Like The Dawn In The Evening
I didn't know this brand until about two years ago—the summer of 2019 when the Covid was still not in the air. I was on vacation in America, a few days in Manhattan before moving to Long Island. The scorching heat did not give respite that year on a sweltering day. I passed a discounted perfume shop right on 7th Ave. Among others like it, I immediately noticed the bottle, all from the Pure series. Without hesitation, I asked the Indian-born boy if I could try it, and he kindly made me smell both Pure Eau Blanche and Pure Blanc. I liked both of them, and in the uncertainty, I bought them both, perhaps for about $20 each. They share many facets; D.N.A. is the same. Still, Pure Blanc is more resinous and balmy, whereas Pure Eau Blanche is more ozonic and watery. The genre is the modern fougére, a little metallic, with touches of leathery and musky notes. I have found no reviews around and not even a shred of the olfactory pyramid, so I'll have to follow my gut. Have you seen the bottle? Total white, a cube, remarkably like my favourite Encre Noire Eau de Toilette.

From the very beginning, the Pure Eau Blanche releases citrus and fresh accords, and an explosion of freshness rises from the balsamic spices and dry woods. I seem to notice some hints of tangy lemon and bitter grapefruit. The peels of the two citrus fruits blend with the more mentholated and green pods of cardamom. The extraordinary lemon shade, sharp as a razor blade, warms the composition with the morning warmth from the seawater. I am reminded of a snow-white man's shirt that exudes an icy aftertaste of ozone. Initially, it both projects well and also brings a lot of energy. I bet the ozonic vibe comes from dew violet leaves, with those aqueous and metallic facets, sometimes dominant and sometimes lingering in the back.

While starting absolutely from citrus notes, this drastically fades in a few moments, presenting more floral and fresh aromas. Let the initial spicy and watery burst calm down. A spicy fresh accord of cardamom and rosemary needles combined with the sensual scent of ylang-ylang creates a light and exhilarating storm. Balsamic spices and herbs are antagonistic to the semi-sweet yellow flower, so the cologne remains soft, floral, fresh, and never goes beyond cloying territory. The heart offers a woodsy edge, dry, with a cedar's droppings slant, smoothed out and tempered by the spices. It feels like everything about this fragrance is just blended the right way.

In the dry-down, it achieves a noble and elegant sillage by combining the sensual nuances of amber, musk and oakmoss. At this stage, the fragrance takes a mossy vibe, slightly salty and musky, super clean, and remains this way till the end. It's a compliment grabber, and many people congratulate me when I wear it.

Not a complex thing, but it works as a modern fougére. The pure colour of the packaging and the light and airy scent make it reach me during the hot Italian seasons, both spring and summer days. I pick up citrus notes and other notes in the open air when I smell this fragrance, which I love. If you like #Lacoste blanc, you will like this fragrance. They are virtually identical. It is a warm climate fragrance that is great for office, casual or even some dating type environments. I would describe the smell as a sweet scent just out of the shower, but it also allows the masculine scent to stand out. Although it projects pretty well, it is not a loud fragrance and stays on for about half a day.

I base the review on a 100ml bottle I have owned since August 2019.

The genre is the modern fougére, a little metallic, with touches of leathery and musky notes. Reminiscent of Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 Blanc.
