When I began my journey, Kayali was one of the first brand I had spotted for their simple, yet beautiful bottles, and the popularity of their scents on social media. Knowing I loved vanilla and gourmand fragrances, I knew I had to try this one.
It's truly a beautiful fragrance and remains up until now one of the best vanilla scent I have ever smelled. The opening is sweet, but mature, sensual and dark, giving me luxurious vibes. There's a small tinge of florals that's immediately swept away by the brown sugar and tonka beans. The gourmand aspect is obviously there with vanilla orchid giving the fragrance a creamy opulent accord. The drydown is warm and sensual, giving me amber and musk. The patchouli in this one is dark and earthy, grounding everything and avoiding the cloying aspect I have smelled in other gourmand perfumes.
My skin seems to love anything and everything vanilla and gourmand, so the scent stays on me for quite a long time. On clothes, I can smell it a good two-three days later after having sprayed it. I haven't really started layering it with other perfumes, so I can't say how it reacts, but it's such a great enticing fragrance that I have no doubt it can pair well with other Kayali perfumes and / or other brands.
My perfume has darkened over time which is completely normal: the vanillin in the perfume becomes darker over time adding more depth and vanilla to the fragrance. Kayali has often addressed this a number of times on their social media. Don't fret if you have a lighter colored perfume, it will evolve over time. I do prefer my bottle now with its dark mauve appearance than when it was a light brown.
