Overhyped and too patchouli heavy - signed, a patchouli lover

Thankful that I only bought a travel size of this cause I have something unpopular to say: it’s overhyped. It’s not bad, but it’s not the pure rich vanilla I was promised. This is a brown sugar patchouli! Which I do enjoy those notes, but it’s darker, and earthier than I expected. And the vanilla I do get is kind of synthetic. This is still my favorite Kayali, which speaks to my overall thoughts on the brand, but I would not call this a safe blind buy, the way I would Fire at Will or Eilish. I will say, as a lot of people have stated, this is a good layering perfume to make something sweeter and richer. But on its own, I just never find myself wanting to wear it. Sillage 7/10, Longevity 5/10

If you love a vanilla with caramelized sugar

This perfume is so beautiful in its simplicity. It is really just a beautiful, simple vanilla key note, with a kick of caramelized sugar on the side. And almost as if to remind you that this is still a perfume and not a gorgeous snack, there lingers a beautiful jasmine in the overtones of the scent, a slight hint that this is a created scent from a bottle.
The notes rests on a warm, cozy, complimentary tonka bean, and are grounded by a soft whisper of musk, and an beautiful amber and patchouli accord. Of course, you got to be into gourmands and be into a simple vanilla to like this. As a minimalist, I adore this scent.
The journey of it is fairly linear but gorgeous, simple and edible. Yum!
I only wish it would be a little bit stronger, and maybe bring the caramelized sugar note up one small notch, as it makes the scent so unique and a strong contender on the market.
If you're into beautiful gourmands, this is it. It is not too sweet and I think it works for all times of the year. Not office appropriate maybe, but for when you're looking to relax with friends, around the house or be fun on errands, with a bit of an upbeat mood.You could also litteraly wear this to bed. I think it could fit most ages if you're edgy like that.
The longevity is just okay for me, it goes a bit weak a bit fast, but that can be remedied by a bit of coconut oil or a cream layer base. I can't comment yet on silage, but my boyfriend loves it when I wear this, and if you're looking for a more intimate vanilla scent profile, then this might be for you. Huda Beauty did a great job with this one, I am so glad they didn't stop before 28. I just wish it was a bit stronger, projected a bit more, and lasted a bit longer due to its price point, as it's such a unique, minimalistic, uncomplicated, straight forward, lighthearted vanilla caramel delight.

Simple, creamy, woodsy vanilla goodness

I love vanilla as a note, but I'm a bit picky about pure vanilla scents. Surprisingly this is perfect for me. It has been on my wishlist for over 2 years and I still haven't bought it because there is always something else that is going to be discontinued, on a big sale or whatever, but one day, Vanilla 28 will be mine.

The first moments of the opening reminded me a lot of eau de Missions by Le Couvent. I know that one is a fan favorite, but I never got the hype. There is something remiscent of wet paper and old make-up in it that I don't enjoy, and I smell the same thing in the opening of Vanilla 28. But here it only lasts seconds, and then a creamy, musky and very sweet vanilla blends in. This part is similar to the vanilla products by B&BW (think Vanilla Bean Noel), VS and other more affordable brands, which isn't my favorite kind of vanilla either.
So, that doesn't sound like the greatest combination, but this time, the whole is more than the sum of its parts!

These two kinds of vanilla work so well together. The sweet creaminess and clean musk balance the more woody, papery parts and vice versa. There are subtle hints of booziness and smoke in the background that round the scent even more. And in the drydown the lovely brown sugar note starts to shine, it's almost like caramel and my favorite part of the scent.
The base of creamy vanilla and warming brown sugar stays until the next morning.

In the end this is still a simple vanilla, like the name suggests, but it's excellent at that. Recommended to all vanilla lovers.

Warm, Amber-y and Mature

I don’t particularly like it. Is there brown sugar? Yes. Vanilla? Yes. But my nose is definitely picking up that patchouli and amber, and I have come to the realisation that I really don’t like patchouli. The amber just seems to intensify it, and makes the scent very mature. Beware if you're looking for a pure vanilla extract scent - this is not it.

Dark Honeyed Sugar, Patchouli Intensifies

It's taken me so long to find the words for this scent which opened my eyes to what a vanilla could be. As a newbie to fragrances about 5 months ago, its popularity and easy-to-like DNA made the travel size an instant purchase for me. Vanilla 28 is so rich, darkly sweet, and hypnotic upfront- upon close inhale it has such an intensity (that strangely doesn't necessarily translate to projection) that is hard to resist.
Vanilla 28 is so memorable for me because I learned some lessons for the first time here- 1. why a gourmand and strong as this isn't ideal for warmer weather (let's just say I oversprayed this for the first and last time on a 100 degree day) 2. what patchouli adds to a fragrance and 3. that a perfume can change over time.
I let Vanilla 28 sit in my cabinet while I got accustomed to smelling some more "nuanced" fragrances while the weather cooled down. About 3 months after purchase, along with the color change to a darker purple the patchouli came forth to create this almost dusty, vintage effect on the fragrance. Where I hadn't detected any spicy, incense-y aspect before, suddenly I understood the comments on the herbal/medicinal aspect of the fragrance. On the one hand, I find this scent harder to wear on a regular day now as I had intended, but I also have come to appreciate the scent more in its deeper form. For a spicy, woody vanilla combo I pair with the BBW Vanilla Romance body lotion which is an even more unexpectedly complex vanilla.

Will never understand the hype of this. Sad take on Guerlain SDV. Very cheap and commercial smelling. They seem to copy a lot. Pass for me

There’s something about this that makes my stomach turn… I can’t pinpoint it, but this is not a vanilla for everyone.

Natural bourbon vanilla - but something sharp, lightly-balsamic, & smokey about it, that overpowers the vanilla/is headache-inducing for me.
