I had really low expectations for this one. We have a sample of it where I work at and figured i should try it after looking at it for close to a year. I kind of liked Vintage Black, also by Kenneth Cole. I thought it was painfully ok. Strong, safe, synthetic, summery. Better options for the money, but still an option within reason. "What the hell" I thought, "KC's Blue can't be much worse".
I guess I was right. It certainly wasn't worse. Surprisingly, it surpassed my expectations.
Now, for some quick grounding. No, this isn't the next big fragrance it never has been, won't ever be. It's main con has become synonymous with Kenneth Cole's entire fragrance line; it's synthetic scent profile. It relies on a very chemical-y base. It's perhaps what gives this fragrance such silige and projection. By no means is this fragrance sophisticated. Not that I would expect that from a fragrance in this price range, but with every praise, honestly and grounding is deserved. ️
Ok now for the fun part; the pros. Despite it's synthetic nature, It's still a pleasant sporty scent. Great for spring and summer! That's probably due to it's fresh and aquatic notes.
It's strong but light. By that I mean it's a very present scent, but not overpowering. Almost like if you combined the stronger, more present nature of KC's Vintage Black, and combined them with the preppy and sporty profile of Polo Blue. Granted those are two fairly plain and generic (not in a bad way) fragrances combined to make a slightly more unique, yet still slightly generic, new fragrance.
I'll keep the bottle short and sweet. It's fine. Classic and timeless. Sure, it's just a cylinder and that's pretty plain and generic. If you like the eccentric nature of bottles from Diesel or Mugler, then geez, you're gonna HATE this one. But if you like Calvin Klein's or Joseph Abboud's philosophy on bottle design, then boy howdy, you're in luck! It's color is nice, I should add. I'm a sucker for that shade of blue. It lays into it's summery and fresh nature. Plus for me.
In all, not a must-have. If you're looking for something more unique than your Polo Blues or Nautica Voyages, then consider this. Butttt, I would probably recommend the previous before this one. More over, consider Tommy Bahama's Maritime collection. THAT'S a fragrance right there.
Tldr yeah smells good. P.s.
Some people compare it to Versace's Eau Fraîche. This blows Eau Fraîche out of the frickin water. I DON'T like Eau Fraîche. Versace's worst of their current offerings smh.
