What Memories Can Mean...
Fragrances are memories for many of us. Memories of certain times,
of certain people,
of certain situations...
For many of us, such fragrances are among the most beautiful, as there are reasons why we have special memories associated with them...
I feel the same way, of course. In addition to Hugo Boss Bottled EdT and Acqua di Giò EdT, there is a third fragrance that I have known since my youth, even though I didn’t use any perfumes back then: Kenzo Pour Homme EdT.
I got to know it (the Kenzo from 1991) as a teenager, in the summer of 2000, when a cousin of my then best friend wore it day after day, and I, as a complete novice, always wondered what on earth smelled so incredibly good about him.
I can remember it so well and clearly because the fragrance has not left me to this day. Moreover, that year there was the European Football Championship right around the corner (Belgium/Netherlands).
Of course, as an enthusiastic player (among others, together with this slightly older acquaintance and his Kenzo), I traveled the few kilometers to the neighboring countries and experienced the event live there a few times, even though we only had a ticket for a single game. But when it’s just a stone’s throw away, you also go there without a ticket, simply to experience the big picture.
And his Kenzo enveloped me amidst all those colorful people there...
Many people, people from different countries, joyfully celebrating, and his Kenzo...

My comment now refers to the further development or reworking of the 91 Kenzo. For a long time, I owned this fragrance myself until a few months ago when, after a long "Kenzo break," I tested this new edited version in a perfume store. Right from the first spray, I had 'flashbacks'... It was all over for me; I immediately bought a bottle in the store....
I don’t even know when this new version came onto the market. It is not quite as aquatic in comparison and a bit woodier, but fundamentally, it smells - at least to my nose - quite identical or similar to the 91 bottle.
The new one also opens with a dreamy, maritime, airy, and aquatic breeze that excites me. However, as it develops, it shows its first woody notes, becoming slightly sweet without losing its aromatic freshness from the beginning. Because it still remains very pleasantly fresh in an "airy" way; despite the pine note that I perceive. This aromatic freshness transports you mentally to warmer countries, to beaches with deep blue-clear seas, bright blue-clear skies, and bright yellow sun...
And when the sandalwood joins in the base, the fragrance reaches its peak. This slightly creamy-balsamic sweetness paired with the
velvety-warm wood is a delight, simply melting away, I find. Nevertheless, this base is still enveloped by the airy aquatic sea note.
Due to its composition, it is made for the warmer season, but of course, you can wear it throughout the year. However, I know for myself that it shines best in spring or summer. The sillage that one perceives with a gust of wind feels very smooth and pleasant.
That a fragrance of this composition lasts a good 6-7 hours on my skin is an indication that fundamentally fresh fragrances do not always have to have endurance problems.
Conclusion:
Currently, I am not using this Kenzo, as I am still waiting for spring and the first warmer days when I will wear it again with great joy. It won’t be long now...
However, I keep sniffing the spray head and enjoying those moments.
Because not only is the fragrance dreamy, but my memories of it are priceless...
This acquaintance mentioned is unfortunately no longer with us; the dear man left us far too early...
But through memories, many people live on within us; though invisible, they are still close...
And even if every journey has an end, the memories of it are everlasting...

Thanks for your comment, I really enjoyed reading it.
I like the current version just as much as the old one.
It's one that will definitely come to the forefront for me in spring.
Once again, a top comment from you. I also liked the scent. Synthetic or not, it's just good. And the price is good too. I think we spoil our noses too much.
Good doesn't always have to be expensive. A trophy from the good old days for you.
What would we be without our memories?
I still remember Kenzo Homme well; my favorite scent from Kenzo in the 90s was Le Monde est Beau. I associate many lovely memories with it.
I really enjoyed being part of your journey down memory lane...
But it does sound really good again...
