Close to the Original

This great original definitely deserves a review. I recently treated myself to this new version, and thus the line is almost complete in my collection. I really liked the aquatic charm of the old Kenzo pour Homme Eau de Toilette version, and this "update" has turned out quite well too. It doesn't always work, for example, with Kenzo Power, the new bottle is already a downgrade. Here, the current version is absolutely successful. In terms of popularity, this original doesn't fare as well compared to the famous and slightly hyped Bisch flankers. The DNA of the original from the 90s has aged a bit, but in my eyes, it is absolutely timeless.

Here too, you get a great fragrance at a fair price. Around 50€ for 110ml is absolutely fair and worth it if you're looking for a great aquatic scent with everyday usability. Kenzo is anyway a great brand with fair prices.
The bottle has of course changed over the years. I still have the old bottle here, and the new bamboo version is definitely much more modern and contemporary.

The new Kenzo Homme is surprisingly close to the original DNA in my opinion. I think that's good, as this was a scent that simply came across as likable and was a relief in hot and humid temperatures. Christian Mathieu is also listed as the same perfumer as the original. The pyramid has been significantly streamlined, yet it still smells surprisingly similar to the huge pyramid of the original. This distinctive aquatic freshness and the overall structure have been quite well adopted. This slight greenish touch and the woody notes are shared by both variants. This new version is ultimately a bit more modern, and that typical 90s touch has been somewhat muted. Nevertheless, it retains its charm and remains an aquatic scent that is refreshing and invigorating. The blend of fresh aquatic notes and wood is simply great. This subtle spiciness and the green nuances are also well balanced. Anyone who liked the old version will like this one too.
The performance of the OG seemed a bit stronger to me, although this version still falls within the acceptable range. This scent lasts minimally 5-6 hours, and the sillage is in the medium range. It can be worn without problems in between or in everyday use.

I can also recommend this new version. A low-budget recommendation is of course the "Acqua | Jeanne en Provence," which is available for a small price. High-end would be the "Shelter Island | Bond No. 9," which is even more luxurious. But this new variant also convinces. This version has retained that likable charm.

I'm still mourning Kenzo pour Homme. It was fantastic.
