Unfortunately, neither my surroundings nor I found it that great :-(

Men's fragrances from Kenzo have generally been only so-so for me. However, it was new to me that one could fail so miserably in my surroundings and at work. Unfortunately, this happened with "Kenzo Homme Santal Marin | Kenzo." My female colleague even found it quite terrible... The longevity was decent at around 8 hours, and the sillage still elicited rather negative compliments after hours.

The top note starts off very fresh, maritime, but also peppery. The heart note offers an aromatic profile that I find very difficult to interpret... and this bothers me a lot! It could be something akin to curdled milk. Even after hours, this scent annoys me. Floral hints of lavender also emerge. The base is quite woody and slightly smoky thanks to guaiac wood. In the background, I can still detect a sweet and somewhat vanillic aroma.

I really am not a fan of reviewing a fragrance negatively, as I truly appreciate the diversity of perfumes. But Kenzo Homme Santal Marin has definitely failed for me. Nevertheless, I thank Sam for the sample.

All marine Kenzos have a note for me that smells like a rubber boat that's been left in the sun for too long.

In the new Indigo, I also got a whiff of rubber boat in the opening, but it quickly faded away.
