I'm here about the sandalwood.
I loved wearing
Kenzo pour Homme Eau de Toilette in my teens and later in my 20s. When my love of fragrances was rekindled here through Parfumo ( not to say it escalated a bit, I tested
Kenzo Homme (2022) Eau de Parfum through a manufacturer's sample, but was not impressed. Something bothered me. On the other hand, I have only sniffed
Kenzo Homme Eau de Toilette in retail stores, but I have yet to test it. When I recently got to know an incredibly good sandalwood that I can now call mine, it was mentioned here in a forum post. That's how I became aware of it.
First of all, the sandalwood in this Kenzo Man is very synthetic. But at this price, you shouldn't expect anything else.
In contrast to
Kenzo pour Homme Eau de Toilette and possibly also
Kenzo Homme Eau de Toilette, this flanker is rounder and softer. You can smell the sandalwood, even if it is synthetic as I said. I can't smell the lavender. The maritime notes provide a balsamic-salty component that really creates a feeling of being by the sea. And anyone who has ever been by the sea without being on a dreamy sandy beach knows that the scent can have something challenging about it. Salty notes suggest an association with sweat. And this is where my problem with this fragrance begins. The sillage is extremely strong and I like it. However, I sometimes get sweaty notes, even more so when I smell it directly at the spray point.
I'm a little torn and don't know whether the fragrance will inspire me or annoy me at some point soon. In any case, I think the sillage is perhaps more effective outdoors than in.
I'll have to think about it and test whether the
Kenzo Homme Eau de Toilette satisfies the Kenzo cravings better, so that one should do without the synthetic sandalwood here and instead continue to satisfy the sandalwood cravings elsewhere.
Two sprays are enough in any case, the sillage is enormous.
In any case, it is a special fragrance. The Kenzo DNA is immediately there, but more muted and deeper. The matte lower half enhances the bottle in contrast to its brothers. Both the cap and the spray head make a cheap impression, but as I said, this can be justified by the price charged by Kenzo.
A special fragrance in its own way, which really lasts forever and has quite a loud sillage.
I think it's good, but I don't know yet if it's love. It has to mature between us.
