Once again something new from the Kenzo Homme line, where perfumer Quentin Bisch develops these fragrances. A truly great line, in which the original DNA of the classic
Kenzo Homme Eau de Toilette has already been significantly altered. The
Kenzo Homme Eau de Toilette Intense & the
Kenzo Homme (2022) Eau de Parfum are quite popular and clearly carry this special DNA as well as the unmistakable signature of Quentin Bisch. The similarity to this Santal Marin, which was released last year, is also unmistakable. I believe this flanker is just a limited edition, but that's the case with most flankers, especially those that don't sell particularly well. This flanker hasn't really gained fame, as evidenced by the mere 27 reviews here. For me, it can definitely hold its own against the two mentioned above, especially since this DNA is quite similar. The chance of liking this one if you enjoy the other two fragrances is quite high. However, one must admit: If you already have fragrances from this line, this Santal Marin is not a must-have due to its similarity. This Santal Marin, however, takes a wonderfully softer and gentler direction.
It's already a great release that you can get for just over €60 for 110ml.
The bottles in this line are uniform. At least the new edition of Kenzo Homme, which is by Quentin Bisch. All have this bamboo bottle, which fits well in the hand and leaves a good impression overall.
As for the scent, as mentioned, there is a very strong similarity to the EdT Intense and also to the EdP. Due to the abundant sandalwood, it gives off a very nice cozy & slightly creamy vibe that lays very gently on the skin. Even though the EdT Intense also has a sandalwood note, one can say that this one is significantly stronger and also a bit creamier. The fact that only four notes are listed here is, of course, incorrect. The fig wood note from the predecessor is, I believe, also present here. Additionally, there are those slightly synthetic wood notes that Mr. Bisch likes to use. Together with this pleasant aquatic note, it has a light driftwood vibe. Moreover, this scent is also a bit darker & more mysterious and possesses this enigmatic aura. A bit of pleasant lavender also spreads out and fits well with this aquatic-wood combo. Overall, this is really nice and soft and pleasant to wear, especially in everyday life. This spicy-woody base with subtly smoky nuances also convinces me completely. Furthermore, this scent is quite linear and, like the others in this line, has no drastic developments between the opening and the drydown. It's a really great distinctive scent that is absolutely something for sandalwood fans.
Performance is, like all the others in this line, top-notch for fresh scents of this kind. The scent is still perceptible close to the skin even after 12 hours. However, it has a real sillage for about 8 hours, with the first 3-4 hours being really good. Perfect for everyday wear, also in terms of performance.
Overall, a great flanker that possesses really beautiful soft sandalwood. If the EdT Intense was a bit too harsh for you, this offers a somewhat softer but also darker version. Thumbs up, and I am already looking forward to the new "Kenzo Homme Indigo | Kenzo," which I will certainly test as well.
