Schwefelgelb, Weed and Black Neon

The smell of a Berlin techno club.
Not one of those that eventually become cool or trendy destinations, but the improvised kind you hear about through word of mouth; maybe tucked inside some abandoned apartment of a crumbling building, with someone spinning dark, industrial music on a makeshift DJ set.

“Underground Vibes” is distinctly urban. The moment I smelled it, I thought: “This must be Antoine Lie.” Only he has that perfect sense of balance when it comes to creating bold, avant-garde fragrances that remain utterly wearable, elegant.
And indeed it is his work.

A perfume dominated by the smell of cigarette smoke blended with cannabis; a piercingly green opening that leads into a dark, mineral leather accord, with nuances of burnt rubber and hints of gasoline.

I love how, in a time when even niche perfumery has surrendered to the most crowd-pleasing trends, Antoine Lie still stands his ground.
Kudos to Laboratorio Olfattivo for releasing a fragrance that dares to derail.
How many bottles will it sell? Perhaps just a couple.
It’s well known that beautiful things rarely sell.
