Cool Elegance

L’Amour starts off with a citrusy freshness of bergamot, a hint of neroli, and a touch of green. The rose quickly joins in, and the fragrance shifts from citrusy/green to a high-quality rose soap, albeit only briefly, at least for me.

My dear friend the tuberose pokes her head in for just a moment, only to disappear without a sound, leaving the stage to the main act, the gardenia. The lovely gardenia can often come across as very demanding and diva-like in fragrances, and it has likely caused headaches for some of you. However, here the often-despised flower behaves extremely civilized, tame, reserved, and almost well-behaved. L’Amour by Lalique has absolutely nothing shrill or attention-seeking about it - it is a gardenia scent that approaches on quiet, elegant soles.

The musk embedded in the fragrance is bright and clean and comes without any animalic notes. The woods support without stepping into the foreground and round off the scent perfectly.

For me, L’Amour is a cool/elegant wallflower that might be perceived as boring, which it absolutely is not for me. Cool, yes, but not aloof, and a wonderful daytime fragrance suitable for numerous occasions and likely for all seasons.

With a longevity of about 8 hours, I am quite satisfied, as this is not a given for a rather subtle, quiet scent. The glass bottle, which is by the way beautiful and very high-quality, is a challenge for small women's hands in the 100 ml version, but Pluto has already noted that in her wonderful comment.

How nice to read something from you again! You've described the scent beautifully. Fragrances from Lalique have given me a lot of headaches so far; they never really clicked for me, with just a few exceptions. Whether from the women's or men's line. This one could be one of those lovely exceptions.
