Gossamer Cream
L’AMOUR by Lalique

Extremely elegant white floral on my skin. Clean clear neroli with tuberose and non-indolic jasmine. Very floral, but not soapy. Beautiful melange of rose/bergamot/gardenia support on a base of creamy sandalwood/cedar and smooth delicate musk weaving through all. A sensually exquisite skin scent that I absolutely love sniffing away at through the day.

No detergent harshness or poorly blended sourness in the citrus. The citrics here bolster the freshness of the white florals and counter any tendency to cloying over-sweetness. The sandalwood is balmy and well balanced here without tipping into full on woody darkness, allowing this blend to remain securely floral, yet with a delicate woody complexity within. Fine, clean cedar accord adds a gently sober profundity, yet without any clumsy overdone heaviness. The musk here is a moderate weight anchoring dry-down that is just luscious enough to keep this composition from becoming a choice for me in really hot summer weather.

With my chemistry, this is a perfect Autumn scent for chilly mornings and evenings. I can easily see why this was released in January during the cold weather. For me this is warm, sensual, elegant, understated, discreet, exquisitely blended, and smooth as a finely woven and delicate creamy cashmere sweater. It’s gorgeous! I love it. It’s one of my favorites already!

Thank you again to the House of Lalique for bringing us another gracefully refined beauty!

In this case, more fragrance would have been better...
Recently, I was at the theater at the Kö with friends, our seats were on the outside, which means you have to get up a few times to let other visitors pass, the seasoned theatergoer knows this. An older couple brushed closely past me, the old gentleman went ahead, smiled at me gratefully, his wife followed behind, and suddenly I was hit by a cloud of urine and rancid fat. I smiled back politely, breathed through my mouth, and hoped they had seats further in the middle. No, they were sitting right next to me. And at that moment, I was annoyed that I had used L’Amour so sparingly - considering other visitors and the tight space. After the break, Mr. Pluto swapped seats with me (I am still grateful to him for that, the good man), his nose is not as sensitive, but in this case, his nose also picked up quite a bit of unpleasantness. That's fine, I prefer to focus on the beautiful things in life, L’Amour.

L’Amour starts citrusy, with bergamot and neroli greeting you, and quite quickly a silky rose joins in. This brings delicate soapy notes with it, along with a hint of green. The listed tuberose behaves itself, I don’t smell it and I’m not upset about it. The gardenia only spreads sweetness, while musk and sandalwood give this floral scent a neat, creamy twist in the base.

In summary, L’Amour is spring in a bottle, a fresh floral that simply lifts your spirits and also exudes sporty elegance. A solid, likable fragrance that plays in the class of Un Air de First. And I even like it better than the latter because it is a bit edgier, not so pleasing. The sillage is medium, and the longevity is surprisingly good. The glass bottle looks beautiful and high-quality (it is Lalique after all), but handling the 100 ml with one hand is a bit difficult. The price/performance ratio here is really top-notch.

And I have already received some compliments for L’Amour, although not at the theater. There, I always thought, if someone turned around, it’s not me, it’s not me...

Lastly, one more thing, "stinkers" exist in every age group.

Cool Elegance
L’Amour starts off with a citrusy freshness of bergamot, a hint of neroli, and a touch of green. The rose quickly joins in, and the fragrance shifts from citrusy/green to a high-quality rose soap, albeit only briefly, at least for me.

My dear friend the tuberose pokes her head in for just a moment, only to disappear without a sound, leaving the stage to the main act, the gardenia. The lovely gardenia can often come across as very demanding and diva-like in fragrances, and it has likely caused headaches for some of you. However, here the often-despised flower behaves extremely civilized, tame, reserved, and almost well-behaved. L’Amour by Lalique has absolutely nothing shrill or attention-seeking about it - it is a gardenia scent that approaches on quiet, elegant soles.

The musk embedded in the fragrance is bright and clean and comes without any animalic notes. The woods support without stepping into the foreground and round off the scent perfectly.

For me, L’Amour is a cool/elegant wallflower that might be perceived as boring, which it absolutely is not for me. Cool, yes, but not aloof, and a wonderful daytime fragrance suitable for numerous occasions and likely for all seasons.

With a longevity of about 8 hours, I am quite satisfied, as this is not a given for a rather subtle, quiet scent. The glass bottle, which is by the way beautiful and very high-quality, is a challenge for small women's hands in the 100 ml version, but Pluto has already noted that in her wonderful comment.

It's not true love, but we can still be friends!
Lalique L'Amour has been on sale for a long time now at Not** for 31.90 € for 100 ml. Pretty packaging, beautiful bottle, and the fragrance notes promised something good. So I had to go for it. Nothing could go wrong, I thought.

Described here as floral-fresh, and there as floral-woody. Which one is more accurate? Well, floral-fresh suits me better!

L'Amour starts pleasantly citrusy with bergamot and neroli. Not too citrusy. Here it is somewhat softened by the rose. I can't really pick it out, but it’s probably responsible for the more delicate opening and takes a bit of the edge off the bergamot and neroli.

This stays for a while until L'Amour becomes a bit more sweet and romantic - more in line with its name.
With the white flowers, it becomes a bit more floral and slightly sweet. The citrus remains, but now it pulls back a bit. From here on, I like L'Amour! I don't explicitly smell any of the mentioned flowers. The green of the gardenia mixed with the (still pleasant) sweetness of the tuberose and the floral jasmine creates the blend. This keeps it from being too opulent and is exactly why it is floral-fresh!!

And for me, it ends right there. Musk makes L'Amour a bit creamy-soft just before the end. But I don't perceive any sandalwood or cedar. Longevity and sillage are average. About 4-5 hours of wear. I can't really assess the sillage, as I haven't been asked about it yet. But it is also a fragrance for the warmer days of the year.

Conclusion: Lalique L'Amour is a well-made fragrance. For the price - if you're looking for a subtle scent for spring/summer - you can't go wrong (especially if you like white flowers).

Gardenia and Jasmine Celebrate Their Wedding and Uncle Cedar is the Best Man (not so bad after all)
Over time on this platform and after getting to know countless fragrances, everyone here knows what they like or dislike. I’m not really a big fan of jasmine as a leading note, and unfortunately, I also don’t like gardenia very much, which I discovered through testing and researching.
At some point, I stumbled upon a gardenia at the hardware store and "ugh," that one is not coming into my house (it has to at least in winter). I would have to constantly open the windows up to the frost line to tolerate it. Even its pretty innocent white exterior couldn’t convince me. I had encountered a gardenia jasminorum, the scent gardenia.

I received L'amour from the owner of a small perfumery, to whom I brought a sample of Bottega Veneta (yes, that’s how perfume lovers are). We had a brief chat about fragrance preferences during which I told her that I find jasmine combined with gardenia annoying. She didn’t want me to leave empty-handed and gave me a sample of L'amour, saying it’s quite new. We studied the fragrance pyramid she had set up in front of the exclusive table.
Well, there was an uncomfortable silence and a blushing shop owner.
The little gem had a throbbing gardenia/jasmine heart.
I took it anyway and promised I would test it, as she assured me it would feel incredibly soft on the skin.
And here I am, wearing it obediently.
At first, it is really extremely intense floral.
I was already thinking about showering a second time.
And then it becomes soft, fluffy, airy, and remains subtly present for a long time but still there.
Thank goodness it’s not a sillage flower monster as it started out.
Just a nice, elegant bouquet of flowers on the neck.
And I must agree with her. A beautiful soft, round composition, good for the day and very pleasantly unobtrusive with a sufficiently long-lasting delicate scent that doesn’t annoy.
I’m surprised myself that I’m writing this. Jasmine, gardenia, and cedar are on my "Do Not Like" list.
But maybe this whole thing creates a successful blend that makes these three ingredients bearable for a jasmine/gardenia/cedar hater.
Or should I doubt myself?
Is my fragrance taste changing?
It still won’t be moving in. But I would love to smell this newcomer from the house of Lalique on others!

More love than a love. Bright flowers, for me the gardenia dominates, on clean laundry musk. Smells pleasant but also a bit faint.

Floral and uncomplicated, friendly white blooms beyond the diva. So easy to wear, so airy and bright, always fitting. No, not boring!

Here, white musk clearly dominates, but unlike many fragrances in this direction, the bright flower is also distinctly noticeable.

Quite a synthetic floral mix, after wearing it longer the linearity becomes annoying, type "everlasting plastic flowers." Not surprisingly cheap.

For me, it's an excellent representation of the polished boredom that characterized many areas in the early 2010s. A bit synthetic*

Spring-like, romantic, bright, floral, soft. Hardly any sweetness, a dream in pastel colors. Doesn't have to hide behind Chanel & co.

White flowers in a light & unsweet way (Rose & Gardenia very prominent, Tuberose & Neroli delicately in the background) on a bed of musk & cedar.

A beautiful & quite natural bouquet of flowers.
Fresh & a bit musky-soapy.
It stays overall subtle, but it's still quite lovely.

Gentle white flowers dance in clean, woody musk cream. Bitter neroli adds freshness but also sharpness. This is not my love.

Floral, fresh, spring-like, delicate. Oops, 4 x F. Plays in the league of Un Air de First.
