We had a score to settle...

The perfume and I actually took a whole 28 years to find each other.
I came across Poeme in a magazine in 1996. I still remember the full-page advertising picture with a small sample stuck in the middle. It was a peel-off foil and underneath it was a small amount of the precious fragrance on another foil. I moistened my arm with it and it was all over me.
I sank into a cloud of soft, golden cream. Enveloping and dreamlike. My heart was touched by this fragrance and my soul was in harmony with it.
So I decided to visit the local perfumery in the next few days to buy this wonderful fragrance.
At the perfumery, I also met a saleswoman who immediately took me into her care. I told her about my intention to buy. I was only 18 years old at the time and very shy. This often proved to be my undoing, as it did this time. The resolute lady explained to me that I was far too young for this fragrance and that it wouldn't suit me at all. It was for mature ladies. Instead, she told me that Amarige Eau de Toilette was basically the same, but for younger people.
And what did I do? I didn't resist, didn't disagree and bought a small bottle of Amarige. Yes, it was nice. Also golden, but not as creamy. Just not as wonderfully creamy and just not what I wanted at that moment.
I was really sad that I had failed like that and changed my mind. I remember sitting at home with Amarige and trying to like it anyway. I kind of used it up by using a lot of it so that it would run out quickly. And I felt bad every time because it reminded me of my lack of standing and made me painfully aware of how stupid that had gone.

At some point I forgot about it and from then on I didn't have either fragrance anymore. Now, with Parfumo, I dug into my old passions and tried to remember previous fragrances. That's when I remembered this one.

And !!!! I bought Poeme. At 46, without a sales clerk, but here in the souk. And I'm happy about it. Both about the really wonderful fragrance, which is so beautifully creamy, golden, soft and radiant on me and lasts forever, and about the fact that this purchase has now had a happy ending after 28 years. And I bought Amarige again and like it now too. :-)

Incidentally, I never shopped at the perfumery again.

Could empathize with how you felt. Had a similar story with Jaipur Boucheron. I was recommended Sun Jilsander as a youthful fragrance at about the same age, but didn't buy it at the time. But never got to know Jaipur. Fortunately, happy ending for you! Cup for the story.

💖 Oh, then go and buy the Jaipur quickly 😀 It's apparently still available even though it seems to have been discontinued?

It was worn by my first boyfriend's mother, who was also about 46 back then 😉 I'm so happy for you! A pleasure to read.

That's a wonderful story 🥰I recently received a small bottle of this dream fragrance and it has stayed with me ever since... Thank goodness it's my birthday soon and my husband knows what I want most of all 😉

Have you bought an older version now? I used to really like it, but unfortunately it's hardly available anymore. I tested it abroad yesterday and unfortunately found it totally "watered down" and was mega disappointed. I really wanted to add it to my collection again....

So, the original packaged bottle I ordered has now arrived. And I can't tell any difference to the one I bought in the souk. Perhaps it is slightly warmer and fuller. But it could also be that the older one has simply matured a little. I have the impression that it has not been reformulated.

Yes, I seem to remember that I tested it about a year ago and it was the same as I knew it from before. Well, hopefully it hasn't been changed now. The test bottle that was there in the perfumery looked quite new.

So the one I bought now was bought in 2020 or 2021 according to the saleswoman.
I've now ordered another one to keep in stock. Hopefully it's the same. But the one I have is strong and round like I remember. It also lasts a long time and has good projection.

I just happened to test it today. Unfortunately, I don't know it from the 90s, but I suspect it hasn't been reformulated to death like the original Trésor, which I don't recognize today.

Yes, it definitely has. I can also imagine the fragrance on younger women. But you can see how stupid it is to listen to one person's opinion and not do what you feel like! Now that doesn't happen to me anymore 😄

PS Someone wrote on my statement that it was her youth scent - so you see once again, the saleswoman was wrong!
