familiar and yet...

There are so many things I enjoy about this perfume. It reminds me of going to big Italian weddings as a kid and seeing my aunts dressed to the nines, their heels clacking on the dance floor and a cloud of perfume following them wherever they walked. It's comforting.
The smell of rose, sandalwood and sweet berries leaves a feminine scent. It does also remind me of a 40 year old bank manager who is kind to her coworkers, glamorous and wont take crap.
However, I can't smell this perfume up close. When I do, I smell porta potty cleaner. I am not sure if it is the civet or carnations. I've always had a hard time with carnation scent. It's frustrating because it's such a nice enjoyable scent that I can smell on myself. As long as I dont take a hard whiff, I can't notice the porta potty cleaner scent.
After leaving it rest for an hour on my skin, stink does get waaay more mild which I am happy about.
I am not sure if I need to let this macerate longer. I really want to love this !
