The Comparison Falls Short, Paco.

Breathless, I opened the heavy box that the delivery person had previously groaned as they placed it in the hallway. The thing was a cube, wrapped in tape and bearing the fat label: "Caution: fragile!" - my new fragrances have arrived. It feels good by now when I part with perfumes that gather dust on my shelf instead of being worn, making room for new, unfamiliar scents.

There are no brands in this box that I recognize. Except for one perfume: Romamor Uomo - it caught my attention because I had bought the classic Roma Uomo Eau de Toilette a few years ago and had banished it after a short time because I didn't like the heart note. I can't name or define it, but there was a "Labello" note in it that turned my stomach. Some kind of "children's toothpaste" that I didn't like; the rest of the fragrance was great, but it simply didn't make sense to celebrate only the first and last third of the perfume when the middle was lacking.

And after I removed the foil and initially sprayed the scent on paper, I first smelled: mint. And then I thought: wait a minute. Can this be? Is this allowed? Was that something from 1 Million Eau de Toilette that I was perceiving here? At this point, some readers might either stop reading or mentally slap me, but for inexplicable reasons, I perceived it.

The next morning after my shower, I reached for the bottle again and sprayed four times. Two on the back of my neck, two on my front shoulder. Then I put on my light summer shirt, buttoned it up, and there was some of the "Roma Uomo (Eau de Toilette) | Laura Biagiotti," but without the part that I didn't like in the classic. It was heavenly. And even now, at my desk, I notice that I smell damn good and I'm glad to have received the flanker.

Perhaps the paper, specifically a newspaper that served as padding for the perfume, played a trick on me, and neither mint nor One Million were present here even in the slightest. Maybe my memory is also clouded, and I was completely wrong in my perception.

In any case, I can say that I really like the projection of the scent, especially now in the warming days in the office, and I feel like every ten minutes I catch a little whiff of it wafting up from my shirt collar to my nose. I am not able to select individual components; I often only manage that abstractly, and I do envy such fine noses from time to time. Be that as it may - it came to me and hopefully stays longer than its predecessor.

I hope my wife likes it as much as I do.
