When in Rome...
What I noticed when doing some research prior to (yet another blind) purchase was that this fragrance flies totally under the radar and remains practically unnoticed. There are, in fact, no youtube reviews (apart from some obscure italian, spanish and polish youtubers), no attention whatsoever. And rightfully so, I must add.
I just have to counterbalance all the raving reviews here and say - this is an exercise in mediocrity. I won't discuss the notes in much detail, all you need to know is that the price shows here. Vetiver? None detected. Fig note? Don't even get me started. If I didn't tell you beforehand you would have no clue. This is a cocktail of synthetic aromachemicals with little natural raw materials. That's not necessarily a bad thing as there are plenty examples where purely synthetic formulas work. Here, you get a modern (as opposed to classic) sweet-fruity-spicy conconction with zero point zero innovation. This juice is perfectly blended - albeit not for the fragheads, but for clueless shopping mall visitors who just go around and randomly sniff atomisers on tester bottles hoping for a revelation. The only good thing I can mention is that even though the now so typical amberwoods scratchy base is to be found here too, it's toned down and just on the brink of becoming annoying. If you are not sensitive to that, add one star. Don't get me wrong here - it's a perfectly servicable fragrance and quite verstaile too. But after reading all the good reviews, I expected something more.
It's a shame for the house to miss an opportunity here - they could have created something more daring and I'm sure the frag community would find it sooner or later and it would get its own hype without any advertising. Now they are left with a scent no one cares about because the house gets no recognition compared to other known brands doing the same stuff for years now. When in Rome, do as the Romans do, they say, but don't expect to get noticed, I add. I will eventually finish my 75 ml bottle and absolutely won't buy more.
