Dew-Kissed Flowers
Cartier De Lune is a lovely, fresh fragrance. I am quite stunned by how elegant and soft it feels on the skin. It wears well during all seasons, but I prefer it much more during the heat of the day.

The rose accord in Cartier De Lune is light and watery in the opening, further complimented by a distinctive pink pepper note. It reminds me of a softer version of Annick Goutal's Rose Splendide.

The heart is a beautiful and crisp blend of rose, lily of the valley and honeysuckle. While the composition may be generic and predictable, I happen to find this simplistic blend wearable and very pleasing. I find anything complicated absolutely unbearable in the heat of Summer, so this fragrance is perfect.

I can't say that I can smell too much in the way of the juniper berries or the cyclamen. I do however detect a heavy dose of musk, sandalwood and pink pepper in the drydown, which turned out to be much nicer than I expected it to be.

All in all, this is a wonderful new release from the house of Cartier. I used to think that their classics had all the charm, but I'm happy to discover that their modern releases are just as delightful.

Both the longevity and sillage of Cartier De Lune were impressive, especially for that of an EDT. Don't be deterred by the mediocre packaging, this is an excellent fragrance that deserves more praise.

Restraining scent
Bevor I could start with writing "Cartier de Lune" has vanisched from my skin. The contents of the vial is already only a tiny rest, but I just want to know about this hiding fragrance in order to describe it.
First I identify "Cartier de Lune" as a minimalistical scent and with a short development.
There are appearing fresh green whiffs, a slight note of the typically linden-blossoms, which I like in every case. And additionally a wonderful light as well as silent and dainty blossom mixture is raising out of this and is laying down to the green fragance mix. A moment later it is changing a little bit into a cheerful, sweet honey and waxy direction. Nothing further more is happening with "Cartier de Lune"
Once I layed "Cartier de Lune" a second time it seems that the sillage became stronger and the longevity has enhanced, so I can rate this two items in a higher level. I am feeling about "Cartier de Lune" as a tender fragrance light and easy. Like a carefree and sunny morning during the early summer. A distinctive female perfume of course. Unfortunately the production of "Cartier de Lune" was already discontinued.

Moonlit Night
"It was as if the sky
Had quietly kissed the earth,
So that in the shimmer of blossoms
She must now dream of him.

The air moved through the fields,
The ears of grain swayed gently,
The forests rustled softly,
So clear was the night.

And my soul spread
Its wings wide,
Flying through the silent lands,
As if it were flying home."

Joseph von Eichendorff (1837)

...
Every time I recite this poem, one of my favorites, a shiver runs through me at the incredible poetry of these words.

And indeed, I feel, in the light of a full moon under a starry sky, as if my soul were spreading its wings wide, as if it were detaching from my body and rising into the air, gently brushing against the swaying treetops, gliding with the light night breeze over the moonlit fields and enjoying the peaceful calm of the moonlit night..

And now I have found a fragrance for this feeling.
Cartier de Lune.

I could dissect the fragrance now, analyze it, name its components... But I do not want to do that this time. Those expecting such should rather read one of the other excellent reviews.
I want to capture the association that this fragrance awakens in me, which makes it so perfectly suited to Eichendorff's lyrical moonlit night and the feeling associated with it.

It is as if I smell something silvery, delicate, yet also transparent. Fragile and simultaneously monumental. Soft and yet powerful.
The fragrance creates a feeling as if my body is wrapped in flowing, delicately scented silk, so delicate that it is translucent. And yet protective, caressing, shimmering.
A hint of silvery night dew on green foliage sparkles together with the stars; delicate petals shimmer brightly in the moonlight, one can almost see them releasing their scent into the night air.
The night carries the color silvery-blue, in all sparkling facets.

And I feel the sensation of being able to let go of the earthly for a moment, allowing my soul to rise into the night sky and enjoy a brief moment of transcendence.
And my soul breathes deeply the scent of Cartier de Lune, absorbing the cool night air and spreading its wings...

... "as if it were flying home."

Cartier, do we really need this?
I was delighted to see the setup today at Karstadt and immediately rushed over. Hardly had I sprayed a test strip when a saleswoman from behind a counter about 2 meters away yelled at me from BEHIND: "You have to test it on your skin, it just smells like alcohol on the strip!!"
I looked over my shoulder in surprise, and there she was, assessing me disapprovingly. I was once again wearing my Saturday 'I'm going to annoy the salespeople' outfit (including an old, worn-out brown leather bomber jacket). With a pink shopping cart from Ikea in tow, mind you!
My gaze did not intimidate her in the slightest. "It works better directly on the skin." So, I sprayed it on the back of my hand. "No, it needs warmth to develop. It won't work on the back of your hand. And just a hint, this is an Eau de Parfum!"
Although it said Eau de Toilette in big letters on the poster with the prices, but whatever. I didn't want to argue. So, I rolled up my sleeve, sprayed it on my wrist... and at least 5 spritzes 8-)
I threw the brusque lady a smile and continued on with my shopping cart.
But! She was right. What initially wafts like a hint of fresh, barely recognizable, barely blooming little flower under the juniper bush develops over time into a very pleasant almost-chypre. I was almost ready to give up and curse Cartier, but they mixed something beautiful. Unfortunately, it does remind me a lot of the Jardins series from Hermès. And not just the bottle. But so be it. I like it. The price of 59 euros for 45ml (what kind of size is that?) is quite steep, but it is Cartier after all.
In the end, after half a day, a hint of wood (there must be cedar in it) remains with a greenish note.
Anyone looking for a nice summer office scent who doesn't want to jump on the Hermès train should definitely give this a try.
I think it's good, even though the old lady behind the counter annoyed me and thus had already set a negative tone.

The moon shone beautifully
Admittedly, my first sniff of de Lune left me a bit puzzled. I still had the sugary rum-soaked cherry opening of Delices and the "I'm about to pounce on you, I'm feeling frisky today" entry of Panthere in my scent memory.
de Lune starts softly and reservedly, a little tingle, a slight acidity from the juniper berry. I shrugged and thought, "Well..." BUT just a short time later, it develops a dreamlike life of its own. A warm day in May is coming to an end, the time when day hands over to night. The twilight crouches in the trees and doesn't want to be driven away by the night. Enchanting scents of blooming flowers on such a May evening rise up. The night has conquered the twilight, and the sky turns midnight blue, one by one the first stars twinkle, and just like that, the heart note unfolds. A flicker of flowers, like radiant stars. Warm, but not sweet, an enchantment of the night.
The night progresses. The sky is almost black. The Great Bear is visible, the Little Bear. A gentle, noble base, a hint of musk to give de Lune an erotic goodnight kiss.
A dream fragrance for an evening with a loved one on the terrace of a fine restaurant. Elegant, present, but not overwhelming, like a starry night in May.

P.S.: Today around 11:00 AM, I applied it and I'm still carrying a shimmering aura with me. Moonlight on the skin. Folks, if you really want to try a scent that is unobtrusive yet has some sillage, give de Lune a shot. If you don't like it, you can knock the snakes off my head!

Delicate-cool herbal light shimmer with an aquatic juniper note. I don't perceive any floral notes, but Ambrox?

Delicate, ethereal, creamy-soft, refined. A beautiful, subtle fragrance. Unfortunately, it seems to be discontinued. :(
