Simple tropical fun - done in a natural way
The dominant note is coconut - (can't understand why it is not listed, but I don't trust them lists anyway...- most companies don't tell us what they REALLY use -) combined with loads of tropical fruits and flowers.
This is a tropical scent with a difference, it smells much better than the usual artificial fruit-salad-combo, but I have to confess that it's not my cup of tea, since I'm not a fan of coconut in perfumes.
Sillage is astonishingly good!

Come on over have some fun....
If a fragrance reminds me of vacation in the South Seas or holiday paradises, then it's this one!

Jardin de Bali, whose theme is the exotic flowers and spices of Bali, was the second fragrance after Jardin de Sicile (the theme is Sicilian lemon) that Isabel Derroisné launched in the Jardins d'aquarelles series. The fragrances in this line are made exclusively from natural raw materials, creating a unique group in Derroisné's product range. The third fragrance in this series is Jardin d'Antalya (the theme is the Turkish rose) - it is currently only available in France.

Jardin de Bali is a very spicy yet very light fragrance. From the very beginning, the notes are woody, spicy, and sweet, but not in a sticky synthetic way; rather, it is very pleasant with bergamot and clove, which not only remain as top notes but - at least the clove - give the fragrance something truly special.

As soon as the flowers come into play - my tuberose, and ylang-ylang - the South Sea feeling is complete, and I start to sing: What a feeling. It's never been so easy, when I'm dreaming...

Okay, but this isn't about singing. The sweetness diminishes a bit upon reaching the base, but it remains present, thanks to licorice and vanilla. Although licorice is not really my thing (actually), here it is beautifully balanced with vetiver and therefore doesn't become so disgustingly licorice-like that it could bother me.

Overall, this is a summer fragrance of a completely different kind. Not citrusy, not green, and basically not fresh, except at the very beginning, but pleasantly woody, yet very light and lovely to wear.

It is well perceivable, so when you enter the restaurant on vacation or the bar, many heads will turn to follow this enchanting scent. The longevity is good enough not to become overwhelming, as I wouldn't want to smell like this all day long. But the approximately 5 hours that the fragrance lasts are very pleasant due to its lightness.

Due to the natural raw materials and the exceptionally low price, this fragrance is definitely worth a try.

I'm writing this comment at a very special request, and I hope, dear Hermi, that you are satisfied with me. ;-)

Two Neighbors
It is midsummer and the midday sun is blazing. You are at the fair. There isn't much going on. You can smell the booth with all the sweets from a distance in the warm, humid air. That certain mixed scent of roasted almonds, licorice, pink cotton candy, candies, candied fruits, etc.
You are now at the height of the booth and notice the stand directly across from it.
The Indian!!!
There, Nag Champa incense sticks are burning. He sells the usual: all kinds of incense cones and sticks, perfume oils, resins (Opoponax, Styrax, Benzoin, Elemi, frankincense), which of course are also burning on the incense burner that stands further back.
From the candy booth, you slowly turn your head in that direction, but you don't go over there. You now stand for a while in the middle between the two stands... slowly you move on. The strong scent from both stands accompanies you for a little while and then quickly fades. It hasn't stuck to you and doesn't dominate the entire large fair - and you are happy to pass by there again on your way back.

Happy Hour in Mai Tai
Wow, what a surprise. Jardin de Bali is the most exotic fragrance I have ever come across. I have already encountered a few exotics; Jungle Gardenia, Mahora, and Fleur de Comores are each representatives of this direction - floral-sweet, intoxicating, almost cloying. Jardin de Bali is like a cocktail with ingredients from all three.
The opening is a bit bergamot-like, but at the same time already woody and sweet. In the heart note, I smell many things that are not mentioned in the pyramid, but continuously weave into a South Sea dream of a scent: banana plant, white rum, brown sugar, gardenia appear and disappear. The sillage is rather unsweet-woody. In the base, I smell no vanilla, and also no distinct sweet wood note, which I, as a licorice fan, would have greatly appreciated; the sweetness of the top note fades away faster than I thought. Overall, the scent is not sweet or sticky, but rather on the woody side. However, up close, the Ylang-Ylang is dominant until the end.
An absolutely amazing fragrance that, unfortunately, is only available online in Germany, unusual, grown-up, and above all, I-take-it-at-a-good-price!

Edit: 11.8.2011 Now I know why I like it so much! It is the less sweet scent twin of Mahora!

Island of the Gods
Jardin de Bali is a fine olfactory surprise.
Cécile Matton has captured her memories of a trip to Bali in this fragrance.
Bali belongs to the Indonesian archipelago and is called the "Island of the Gods" due to its numerous temples.
It is located in the Indian Ocean, in the North Pacific (strictly speaking, it does not belong to the South Seas), exactly at the border between Asian and Australian flora. Typical are, in addition to orchids, oleander, hibiscus, frangipani, lotus, water lilies...
Vanilla and cloves are also cultivated, and benzoe trees can be found on the neighboring Sumatra.
So it is not surprising that CM has chosen, among other things, benzoe and vanilla for her composition.
The joy of JdB, which consists of purely natural ingredients, begins with the pretty packaging adorned with pastel-colored flowers, on which a hummingbird is feeding.
The simple, rather functional glass bottle is tinted in soft rose - orange and green - turquoise. My favorite colors are orange and turquoise, so I find this color scheme very appealing.

The top note of the fragrance is green, with a distinct presence of bergamot. In my opinion, a bit too pronounced.
But even in the top, a very pleasant vanilla note makes itself known, which is characteristic of JdB.
There is also a slightly spicy note, which I attribute to the clove, that can be perceived.
The dominance of bergamot fades after a few minutes, and the further development of the fragrance compensates richly for the somewhat harsh opening.
It becomes very beautifully vanillic, initially still with hints of green notes that are so well integrated that a soft, slightly powdery impression is created.
The sillage is quite strong; the sweetness, which cannot be attributed solely to the vanilla, but rather to its perfect interplay with tuberose and ylang-ylang, is accompanied by a very delicate, barely noticeable smoky note.
I find this to be beautiful, cheerful, and calming, very harmonious.
The vanilla note becomes more prominent as the fragrance develops, without ever being intrusive.
For hours, its delicate sweetness lingers, with a slight spicy-smoky note (from benzoe and licorice?) still resonating.
JdB is an unpretentious fragrance that feels good, a solidly crafted (summer) scent that manages without citrus notes in the heart and base, yet still feels light and buoyant.
I have embraced it in my heart and am glad that I have added it to my collection.
The longevity is enormous; many significantly more expensive fragrances could take a thick slice out of that!
The sillage is also extraordinarily good; I was able to perceive Jardin de Bali for several hours.
All in all, a blind purchase that I do not regret.

Gentle tropics: dominated by white flowers, without overwhelming or annoying the surroundings. Solid scent without a unique feature.

Could have sworn there’s Tiare in it, initially a bit sweet-overwhelming, after about 45 min. a lovely summer pick-me-up for autumn.

In summer, a lush, tropical garden.
Now, just as beautiful in the cold.
You have to like tuberose.
I love being in the Balinese garden....

If there's no Tiaré in it, I'm ready to drink a bottle!
Or is the sample mislabelled? No, otherwise it checks out.

Actually quite okay (I'm usually not a fan of ID). But it's getting increasingly 'cucumber-like' for me, and that's not really my thing. They belong in the salad.

Smells of Tiare and Ylang-Ylang, a beautiful, everyday wearable, and not too sweet summer scent... tropical vibes with a hint of pink bubblegum.

Tropical scent with a lovely tuberose. Floral-vanilla-sweet. Too bad it doesn't have more "oomph." Definitely a summer fragrance.
