There are many summer fragrances, and I must admit, I have not yet found THE ONE. While various AdPs, Armanis, PRs, and Hermès have made their way into my collection, as well as Rojá's Elysium (a mega scent, but simply too expensive for everyday use), my search is still not over - and perhaps it never will be, as variety is quite interesting.
In this regard, it's nice that some hotels in their wellness areas not only offer care products but also conveniently have fragrances available. This happened last week when I stumbled upon Homme by Ligne St Barth during a short break and immediately jumped into the purchasing process after a quick test. A classic impulse buy.
A super fresh start to the fragrance, a colorful mix of various ingredients. Citrusy notes, which were to be expected, blended with oranges, mixed with something minty, all garnished with a minimal salty pinch. Green notes are also present from the very beginning and become more dominant over time.
At first, this mixture confused me a bit because many manufacturers use these individual components as heart notes in their creations and try to arrange something around them. Here, it feels/smells like a lot is coming at once. This initially evoked associations with various cheap disco pick-up scents for me. But shortly after the start, when the wild opening settles down a bit, there is simply a beautiful, spicy freshness that, as described above, becomes a bit greener over time.
A synthetic product? Undoubtedly, and from a technical standpoint, the rather simple construction does not justify the price (96 EUR/100ml). But prices are always debatable in general (and not just in the perfume sector). Ultimately, it is the scent itself that triggers a purchasing decision or not. And compared to an Acqua di Säle or Ichnusa, it is still relatively considered "affordable," although the other two are certainly on a completely different level in terms of ingredients.
Longevity and sillage are average; Homme is in good company with many citrus aquatics, lasting about 5 hours on me.
The bottle is kept super simple, if not to say loveless; for the price asked, I expected a bit more. In contrast, the AdP blu mediterraneos are truly a feast for the eyes.
My conclusion: A straightforward everyday summer fragrance, perfect for warm vacation days by the sea, situated somewhere between fresh, zesty, and spicy. And certainly worth at least a test.
Well, we should be clear about one thing: cosmetics and perfumes are largely of chemical origin. The face gel corresponding to the fragrance contains, among other things, TRIGLYCERIDES, GLYCERIN, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, ISOPROPYL PALMITATE. Natural ingredients? Yes, Caribbean water and coconut oil are also processed by St. Barth. The higher the quality of the ingredients, the better H+S, and that's how the Homme stands out from others. Still, a cool scent overall.
