Revolt of the Stepford Wives
As a newlywed who spent endless hours before the wedding exploring bridal fragrances, ultimately choosing Le Bouquet de la Mariée by Guerlain, I found myself wondering:
Is there life after marriage?
In terms of perfume, I mean.
And so I came across Ideal Wife by Lise London, which, by name alone, seems perfect for me. Not.
But being the curious person I am, I wanted to know what the olfactory representation of the perfect wife (that is, Bree from Desperate Housewives, so to speak) smells like.
Other perfect wives told me what it means to be an "Ideal Wife": A lady in the parlor, a good cook, and a whore in bed. (Two out of three ain't bad, as Meat Loaf once said.)
Can you somehow smell these 3 qualities? Not by any means, but it’s not uninteresting.
Ideal Wife starts off very English, subtly floral, very unassuming, untouched. Then it kicks it up a notch, becoming sweeter but also smokier... *roar*, the tigress is awakened. It now comes across as quite unadapted and angular, no longer the wallflower of the top note. An interesting development, as if a quiet housewife suddenly put on the pants and rebelled. A slightly alcoholic heart note with unsweetened vanilla and floral wood lingers on the skin for a long time, albeit without much projection, really skin-close. The longevity is medium, as after 2-3 hours I could practically only smell faint vanilla, then the revolt of the Stepford women was quelled. Unfortunately.
PS: Taurus1967 has the male counterpart to this!
