Come on, do it, do it better

One may smile at the old GDR television format, which has stubbornly spread over decades in a very good broadcasting position and in which various school teams have competed in sporting competitions to award their champions every two years, to whom a trophy (sic) from the National Olympic Committee of the GDR waved.
It reflects very well my thoughts that I felt while wearing 7 Loewe Sport - scents in competition, and then another one in the center that even carries the "sport" in its name.

One would perhaps come up with the idea that the fragrance might have started to confuse the field of fresh and spicy main streamers.
It works pretty well for me...

In order to stay with the television format, there are several competitors with whom 7 Loewe Sport, the contribution from Spain, can and will compete. For Italy compete: Armani's classic Acqua di Gio, Bvlgaris Aqva Amara, Cerruti Image Fresh Energy, Aqua Nautilus and Aqua di roma, for the USA Perry Ellis 360 Degrees Red for men, as well as Clinique Happy for men (CK one unfortunately not qualified) , for Japan Eau d'Issey pour Homme.

For me, 7 Loewe Sport can assert itself well against the candidates mentioned and I would regard him as my winner from this shootout.

It begins very herb-citric, almost stabbing and penetrating. The Yuzu note is clearly recognizable and there are associations with Eau d'Issey. The Fresh Energy presents itself in a similarly penetrating and wirey citrical way, but it does all this in a somewhat scratchy and metallic way. The citrus note is clearly more bitter in both than in Clinique Happy for Men and Acqua di Gio, where the tangerine gives a softer, wellness-like start. After all these years Acqua di Gio looks a bit paler compared to the original version, which I really liked when I first smelled it in the mid-90s. In the meantime it has been smelled very, very often, so that it feels a little worn out from my point of view, parallel to the increasing dilution through reformulation. The Perry Ellis presents the Aqua Nautilus in the current version a little more penetrating, piercing, also a little more synthetic, but a little darker and spicier. The latter three bring with them a distinctly fruity note that appears somewhat more playful and approachable, which is not the case with Loewe and Fresh Energy. The somewhat "colder" facets brought in by mint and tomato leaf are beautiful on the Loewe and provide a pleasantly cooling effect.

In the course of time, the Loewe remains relatively straight, becomes somewhat woodier and radiates a clear, but not soapy, cleanliness through the incense note and musk, which brings something warmer, soft and pulsating at hot temperatures. as already mentioned, even slightly woodsy elements can be heard. Here, however, the somewhat urgent central woodiness of Eau d'Issey pH is dispensed with, with which I could not really make friends in retrospect despite wearing it for a longer time. For me, there were more associations with woodblock prints in sawmills, which is one reason why I never really liked the scent one hundred percent and also underlined my reservations when I smelled it on someone else. In addition there is the perhaps somewhat unfair and subjective accusation that the Eau d'Issey, on the one hand, deliberately angular, but at the same time also unisex, and for me, therefore, always seemed a little "knowledgable", in relation to the framework of the men's fragrances commonly available at that time, just as one missed the attribute of the "teacher's fragrance" to a current top seller, perhaps out of envy.
The end of the Loewe remains a radiant, clean, but also remotely warm, steaming impression, which remains very straightforward, but fortunately does without gurky, melonic elements, as in Aqva Amara, Acqua di Roma or Sel de Marin, which I unfortunately don't like so much because of the stylistic proximity to sporty women's fragrances of the 90s, such as New West for Her, Sunflowers or Polo Sport Woman.

I like the cooling freshness, which is caught again by the pulsation of musk and frankincense at higher temperatures, and which makes the scent very suitable for hot days or also for sports activities. I can't deny a certain synthetics, here Iso E-Super may well be in the game, as it is also implemented in Escentric 01 and Theorema Uomo. In my opinion, it serves a good purpose here. White T-shirt, very hot day and 7 Loewe sports, that fits me very well.

For me, the fragrance, despite many parallels to well-known classics, is once again a beautiful addition to the herb-clean freshness. The bottle is heavy, lies well in the hand and is somewhat unconventional with the integrated, almost deodorant-like spray head, but is easy to dose and produces a rather cylindrical spray area.

Whether now the special edition, with the blue stripes, which I present here, offers an increase in value, I leave now dahingestellt.

All in all a successful all-rounder for hot days, especially when you are through with Aqua di Gio and Eau d'isley pH. A tribute by the NOK of the GDR is not to be expected any more.

At this point again many thanks to InGENIEur for the exchange.
