Dances out of the line of oriental fragrances....

With great anticipation, I pre-ordered Fleur du Désert back in mid-February. Since Les Sables Roses is one of my absolute favorite fragrances, I assumed this scent couldn't disappoint me. I also have Ombre Nomade and "Nuit de Feu | Louis Vuitton," which are also from the oriental line, for comparison. Each unique in its own way and absolute hits in terms of longevity and intensity of the scent.

So my expectations for a fragrance from the €320 range were really high... Well, the fragrance was delivered to me shortly after my order, even before its release. I was, of course, very happy about that. When it arrived and I opened the package, a beautiful dark bottle greeted me, and the perfume itself is in a magenta tone. You only notice this when you hold the bottle up to the light. It fits perfectly into the rose, blue, and orange range of the other three fragrances.

But now to the scent itself. It is labeled as a unisex fragrance. When I smelled it from the bottle, I thought - phew, that's sweet, would my husband like it? Hmmm... But you know how it is, once sprayed and left on the skin, the scent always develops in a different direction... So I went ahead and tested it with two sprays on my wrist.

The first sniff was a bit sobering. It smells like sweet chewing gum that I remember from my childhood. And I didn't even like it that much.... I then asked my husband what he thought of it. He said, "Um, yeah, toothpaste!?" - to my association with chewing gum, he replied: "Exactly, or something like that!" - Well, we cleared that topic up quickly.

I then sniffed it every half hour and waited to see what would happen. This sweet scent diminishes over time, but unfortunately, no particularly special note emerges. It is definitely pleasant; those who like sweet fragrances will enjoy this one as well. Personally, the combination of cinnamon and floral honey with rose and orange feels a bit too much sweetness for me.

I believe bold men can wear this scent, especially after it has been on for a few hours and had some time to develop. Unfortunately, I have to say that the longevity is quite low after 4-5 hours, and I really had to get close to my wrist to smell anything. Especially in comparison to the siblings in the line, it's almost a shame, because Ombre Nomade still hits you after 12 hours.... They could have definitely given it a bit more intensity...

My conclusion: Unfortunately, this will not be my new signature scent. I will still wear it from time to time, and maybe I will discover something that I missed after two days of testing... :)

WOMEN who love sweet, powdery, "sticky" scents will especially adore this fragrance... I have the feeling that the scent sticks to my skin like chewing gum... and thankfully lets go relatively quickly.... haha....

Interestingly, the release is planned for 31.3.22, and now there are rumors that it might be pushed to 30.6 and only available in certain countries, e.g., London and Istanbul, and in the Arab region... apparently, there was an internal memo to postpone the fragrance release.... Will it still fit the season...? It might be too sweet for summer, so it would be good to keep the release in March :)

Update 29.3. A friend was able to order the fragrance today through customer service over the phone.

Neither Ombre Nomande nor Nouveau Monde convinced me. So I guess Fleur du Désert won't do it for me either. Such a pity.

@nococo, yes, unfortunately that's often the case. Price increases are often communicated to employees only on the day of the increase... while customers already have the info weeks in advance through sources...
@anjatom, sure, it's really a shame ☹️ I had such high hopes for this fragrance 🌸😎

Thanks again for sharing! I completely agree with everything! The title describes it (unfortunately) very well! It just doesn't fit and stands out in a bad way! I also smell the gum-like scent, and in the dry down, it’s just floral water, somehow musty!

I also got 5 different answers from customer service, and the employee at the LV store was surprised when I told him about the scent and City of Stars :D

@Ghosa If you ask 5 employees at LV the same question, you'll get 11 different answers :D I've been a customer there for so long and have experienced countless releases before I even noticed the fragrances... it's really funny that everyone gets different information there. I even had to spell out the fragrance for my order because the lady had never heard of it... she found it and was able to order it. In the store, however, there was no allocation available for the fragrance.

The last paragraph also explains why the sellers at LV had never heard of a "Fleur du Desert" last Saturday :D

Such a shame, I was really drawn to the scent notes. But it's great that you were able to snag a bottle already!
