So first of all:
I enjoy going into a Lush store and sniffing around. Not just the perfumes but also everything else there. It can be overwhelming, but you can get used to it. What I appreciate about Lush fragrances is the mainstreaming of scents that are actually not mainstream. And since I am not very respectful of fragrances based on their bottles, I can also accept the simplicity of the Lush bottles.

Now to the scent. In hindsight, I regret a bit that I chose this one instead of Lord of Misrule. I recently sniffed LoM and found it really well-rounded yet unusual. However, the Lush store didn't have it in stock at that time, so I chose Rentless instead. Rentless gives me two images. On one hand, a hipster event in autumn in some backyard, where string lights hang everywhere and where vegan waffles are served, and where a cigarette or two is smoked, but only in the corner at the back. The walls are rough, peeling in places, revealing brickwork underneath. Somewhere, a barrel is burning, and that seems to provide enough warmth for everyone. It's actually too cold to be outside, but everyone seems okay with it, and a lot of hot chocolate is being consumed. The evening is nice and calm, not perfect, but that was never the expectation, perhaps even intentionally not desired.

Another image that comes to mind is the return home. The completely imperfect return home, and yet it’s nice. I see myself in early December. It’s really uncomfortable, cold, and raining, because snow would be too pleasant. You come in with cold cheeks and you can smell that mom has been baking. Beautiful chocolate cookies. But wait, what smells so burnt? Mom reports that the first two batches unfortunately burned in the oven. However, the subsequent cookies have absorbed a bit, but only a little, of the burnt aroma. Mom's aroma sticks are also in the hallway, radiating throughout the house.

The scent has its rough edges. Yet even when I wear it for my own comfort, I unfortunately only had this scent with me when I was once at home with my family over the Christmas holidays. During this time, there is a tent festival from the 1st to the 2nd Christmas holiday where everyone meets. Those who stayed and also those who have moved away. I wore the scent there and received nothing but compliments. Everyone thought it was great and very delicious. In the huge tent, with about 3000-4000 visitors, smoking also happens, albeit secretly when the security guards aren't looking. The scent fits perfectly there. Especially since it should be on par, if not even superior, to others like Eros and One Million in terms of longevity and sillage. And its smell makes it stand out.
