Patch at its Finest
I have owned a bottle of Rentless for about a year. The last time I wore the fragrance was at the beginning of 2022. Today, on Christmas Eve, I want to wear it again. I just sprayed it to sniff and what do I find? It has developed, smells different now than it did almost a year ago when I last wore it. Since it contains essential oils, it makes sense that a perfume with or made from various essential oils matures and evolves over time, and thus can (slightly) change. What I smell now surprises me a lot, as I strongly detect dried, caramelized dates or apricots, something along those lines, and I like it. As it develops on my skin, the patchouli comes through stronger. I love patchouli, especially when it smells natural. When I bought the fragrance and wore it for the first time, the patch was very present from the start.
The dried fruit sweetness remains, as does the patchouli, until the end, and a slight smokiness develops. The scent is deep and very potent. For me, it’s a fragrance not suitable for many occasions and only wearable in cold weather. There are many people who can’t stand patchouli, so be cautious if you want to wear it in closed spaces around others. When I wore it for the first time, I was sitting in the subway. There was a comment from a fellow passenger I didn’t know, who was about 1.5 meters away from me, saying to his buddy: "Wow, someone really doused themselves in patchouli." And not in a complimentary tone. I was extremely embarrassed. Well, one probably should have good self-confidence when wearing this fragrance in public, which I unfortunately do not possess to a great extent. But I still wear Rentless, just being careful about where and when I use it and dosing it more cautiously since that experience. So, if you’re looking for a naturally smelling, potent, slightly sweet and smoky patchouli scent, then Rentless could be your new treasure. For me, it is one.
