A "lone veteran" with depth
A "blind swap" brought it to light. And perhaps reminded other "noses" who had this fragrance at some point. It is a "one-off", there are no other fragrances of this brand. Strange? ... Yes, very strange!
And without comment. Not SO strange at all. Or is it? I don't know... now "Rouge & Noir" has the perhaps unique opportunity to be reviewed. Well, I'll start by trying to draw up a "fragrance pyramid" based on "nose" alone. Of course, there is no guarantee of completeness or "too much of a good thing"! Top notes: Citrus fruits, galbanum, /green notes
Heart notes: Garden carnation, rose, iris, jasmine / ylang ylang
Base notes: Moss, woods, amber, patchouli, vetiver
The longevity is amazing, as is the sillage. A little caution is required when spraying it on, as it would fill the room. I can't see much resemblance to any other perfume I've smelled, but I can recognize a slight relationship. Fidji (2003) Eau de Parfum would be such a fragrance. But "Rouge & Noir" is even more opulent. When the green-citrus top note transitions to the "heart", the flowers, especially rose and garden carnation, are very present. The sweeter jasmine and / or ylang ylang are subtle in the background. This remains the case for a long time without appearing "stiff" or "rigid". The fragrance is "alive" and versatile. All this in slow.
When the base announces itself, mosses and woods together act as a "fragrance deepener" and like a "pull" to even "more"... which then gradually becomes apparent. Patchouli is added. I also think I recognize a hint of vetiver and amber. It is a perfume that is well balanced between sweet and tart. And which really picks up speed towards the "end".
In a polyphonic chorus with which all the participants say a long goodbye. Much like after a successful theater premiere, to which the audience gives a standing ovation and everyone may step in front of the curtain even more often.
There are many occasions to wear this fragrance. But it really is best suited to a festive occasion or an evening at the theater or operetta ;-))
