The king and the queen
The sky is overcast. Black and gray clouds cover the sky.
Only a few rays of sunshine find their way through the dense cloud cover.
The prince rides swiftly on his horse to the stables at the large castle. The smell of stables and the scent of hay catch the prince's nose.
He gets off his horse and joins the others.
From here on, he must continue on his own, as the prince has to fight his way through the thorny rose bushes to reach Sleeping Beauty.
Once he has fought his way through the meters of thick rose bushes, only a long wooden staircase separates him from his beloved.
But despite the wounds from the thorns of the roses, the prince hurries up the wooden steps so that he can free her from her curse.
Soon they will be king and queen.
I simply couldn't get past the new "Oud Royale"... The reason for this was, of course, that Oud Royale is one of my favorite ouds and Oud Royale Pure Perfume is one of the most outstanding oud fragrances from EO for me.
To summarize briefly, Oud Royale Pure Perfume is so special to me because it not only combines the best sides of oud with a beautiful rose note, ambergris and high-quality musk. It is also enormously dense, highly intense, so dark that it is almost black. A fragrance of the absolute master class in my eyes.
The new Oud Royale: Taifi Sultani had a hard time, because the expectations next to its brother are naturally high.
My expectations of the fragrance were to have the strengths of the OG, but to liven it up with an underlining, high-quality rose.
And I'll say it right away: my expectations were completely fulfilled.
For me, Oud Royale has always been the king of ouds.
Taif Rose, on the other hand, is the queen of roses for me.
Now king and queen are united...that can only be a good thing ;)
The new OR also starts incredibly dense, intense and dark - even if it is nowhere near as dark as the OG.
The beautiful oud is strongly present right from the start, bedded on warm, almost creamy-animal musk, with hints of ambergris in the background.
The dark composition is brightened and lightened by an incredibly juicy, fruity-sweet rose. The rose plays a central role from the very first minutes, but never takes center stage on its own. It remains an interplay of all the fragrance notes, although the oud is already the most present to my nose.
The rose notes are incredibly high-quality and never too flowery or even disturbing. On the contrary, they actually enrich the composition and form a counterpart to its brother, which cannot be ruled out if the OG version is already in the perfume cabinet.
For me, an absolutely successful release that I would not want to miss in my collection.
So is it really worth it for anyone who already has the OG?
Certainly not, the similarity is of course there and the differences are not gigantic.
However, if you want a lighter, more relaxed version and like the high-end rose notes of EO, you have found something very special here.
For me, this is also a great version for daytime and then the normal version from the evening onwards.
Cheers
