8.5Scent 7Longevity 5Sillage

Of Roses, Salt, and Sea

In search of a clean scent, I found myself drawn to Crivelli. Papyrus and Absinthe have been sitting in my decant collection for half a year and haven't really warmed up to me yet. I had actually written off Crivelli for myself until I held Rose Saltifolia in my hands.

This fragrance evokes a sense of wanderlust in me. I long for Ireland's Atlantic coast, specifically the quaint coastal town of Galway. It is a windy yet promising spring morning, and Galway is the final stop on our tour of Ireland. It will be the last vacation for a while, which is why I chose a room with a balcony and sea view. I wake up early and open the huge window front. The cool, damp air greets me, and the sound of the sea breaks the night’s silence. The sun is just rising, illuminating the lush cumulus clouds that gently drift across the sky like mountains. I watch the spectacle for a while, then feel a chill and retreat back into my warm hotel bed, gazing toward the horizon with a feeling of infinity in my heart.

Rose Saltifolia opens with an intense rose scent. The blood orange adds an exciting depth to the rose with its tart citrus note, further supported by the pepper. Just before it could become wallflower-like, we pick up some juicy seaweed green along the way and wrap the cool composition in a soft cashmeran cloak. Rose Saltifolia caresses coolly and leaves a tickle in the nose. The sillage is not very pronounced, which bothers me less. The scent unfolds almost linearly for me, with the citrus gradually fading over time. The rose remains in the foreground but never becomes a soloist.

For me, Rose Saltifolia is a practical everyday scent that makes me want to explore the other Crivellis after all.
