Here we have a real blockbuster in the world of fragrances! BR540 Extrait is truly a groundbreaking creation that takes your senses away. But beware, dear friends, because when you wear this scent, you are as present as an elephant in a china shop.
The sillage is so strong that I can only apply a tiny bit, otherwise my surroundings feel overwhelmed by it (I've been told this before... rather unpleasant). But somewhere you do want to attract attention when you have to spend the monthly rent of a small studio apartment on it, right? BR540 Extrait is like a statement accessory for the nose.
However, there is a small (yet somehow significant) downside that I don't want to hide, even if it doesn't affect every buyer/wearer: I become "nose-blind" to this scent almost immediately. I can't smell it myself after about 15 minutes because my nose gets so used to it quickly. However, when I take my worn jacket out of the closet a whole five days later, a tsunami wave of fragrance hits me that is so strong that I can't wear any other scent that would clash with the one I wore five days ago.
Still, this is a scent I can never miss in my collection. It is simply unmistakable and unique. My friends and family associate this scent with me. "This is what Leo smells like," I hear when someone else has worn this fragrance.
The amazing thing is... I actually wear a different scent every day.
And how would I describe the scent to someone who has never smelled it?
Well, it’s actually not that easy, but I’ll give it a try:
Imagine you are in a magnificent palace in the Middle East. The scent of sweet spices surrounds you as you wander through the corridors. You look to the right and discover an open door, from which a bright beam of sunshine shines. The beam illuminates a light cloud of smoke, in which a young lady in a colorful garment meditates alone and completely undisturbed. The smoke comes from incense sticks that contain a perfect blend of the finest spices. You take a deep breath and feel how the scent envelops you like a soft, fluffy coat. You feel warm, but not uncomfortably warm... just enough that the coat doesn’t make you sweat. The fragrance is super balanced and has the perfect sweetness to be attractive without being annoying.
So... eyes back open and back to real life! Or should I apply it one more time and keep dreaming?
P.S.: If you have a recommendation for something that smells similar and perhaps doesn’t fade from my own nose so quickly, I’d love to hear it!
