The No.1
How does one best start to describe such a fragrance?
Incredible.. There is hardly a fragrance DNA that makes me dream more than this one.
Oud Satin Mood Extrait de Parfum is the first fragrance I bought a decant of, and I was immediately overwhelmed by the beauty and performance that this scent brings..
For me, this is not just a perfume, but a feeling. A passion. A statement. A journey..
A journey into a kingdom where everyone is happy and the king himself is not an aloof, arrogant man. He is rather a gentleman who is always well-dressed, polite, and courteous.
One who rules with style and sensitivity, is there for everyone, and proves his class on every occasion..
The good one starts here with a beautiful, sweet-floral rose note that feels very elegant to me. The violet is for me just a quiet companion, but still present and emphasizes the "silk feeling". In the drydown, the wonderful vanilla joins the always pleasantly present oud. Because it is not such an animalistic, aggressive oud, the other notes can also unfold freely.
I particularly like this about this fragrance. Because it fits both a suit and a sweater.
To my great surprise, I have read several times that the fragrance is "too strong" despite this wonderful scent composition..
There is no other fragrance I know where I can even somewhat understand this argument. Normally, one complains that a fragrance is nice but the performance is simply too weak.. here, apparently for many, the fragrance is super pleasing, but just too strong! :)
In my opinion, this is also an indication of the very high quality of this fragrance.
Francis Kurkdjian has done a lot right here and has shown the perfume world how it should be done when one demands so much money for their product.
A little excursion to Oud Satin Mood Eau de Parfum:
Many wonder if the extra effort for the Extrait is worth it, honest answer: Yes and No.
The performance of the EdP is minimally weaker, but I can only distinguish the DNA in the drydown (then already quite noticeably).
The Extrait comes across as more opulent and is simply deeper (maybe also more masculine?) than the EdP.
Anyone who has no problem with 10% less performance and a hint of benzoin can confidently go for the EdP.
I have tested both one after the other and also simultaneously and have come to the conclusion that the Extrait is definitely worth it for me personally.
Conclusion:
Overall, the Extrait is my personal No.1 from all perspectives and the already mentioned charming "king" in my collection.
If I could only have one single fragrance in my life, it would be this one.
Best regards
