Oud Satin Mood by Maison Francis Kurkdjian

One spray of this fragrance is enough, as it has a slightly sour rose and oudy vanilla scent that can be overpowering. However, if applied sparingly on the wrist, it is perfect. The vanilla is blended with oud, giving it a different twist than other vanilla fragrances like Eau Duelle or Guerlain's SDV. The scent has a bit of sourness which may turn some people off, but overall, Maison Francis Kurkdjian has done a decent job with this scent.

Although other houses have created the rose and oud combo, this fragrance is still worth trying, especially if you enjoy scents like BR540, Grand Soir, and Oud Cashmere Mood. It's on the pricier side, but the excellent performance justifies the cost.

However, while the scent is suitable for special occasions like dates and evenings out, it may not be suitable for a cuddling scent due to its strong projection. It's essential to sample before purchasing the full bottle.

Rose Violet Oud

Another fabric – satin enters MFK’s fabric collection beside silk, cashmere and velvet, one of the most creative fragrance collection featuring oud.
The perfume has an unusual opening for an oud composition: candied violets that will turn a bit powdery and vanilla which, together with oud, is accompanying a bouquet of different roses.
These roses melted in soft vanilla with a powdery violet note have the echo of several other rose/violet perfume: FM’s Lipstick Rose and YSL ‘ Paris.

Satin Mood has on one hand the collection’s DNA but, on the other hand, it’s miles away from Cashmere or Velvet Mood being soft and feminine, a flowery sweet oud with some make up traces giving a comforting feeling. Compared with the rest in spite of the fact that is named Oud Satin Mood oud is not the guest star, the leading role was given to vanilla roses.
As the fragrance evolves in the drydown the roses start to pale in favor of vanilla, benzoin and powdery oud. Francis Kurkdjan succeeded once again a brilliant interpretation of oud in an original manner.
With a very good longevity, more than 8 hours and a beautiful silage that gets a lot of compliments Satin Mood is a must try even if you are not (yet) fan of oud fragrances.

Convincing

Oud Satin Mood certainly caught my attention during today's wear. The way it brings together warmth-sweetness and cool-darkness is quite interesting, to say the least. I don't think I would wear it again, simply because it does not fit my taste. This did manage, however, to change my mind on the genre. I thought there was no such thing as a convincing rose-oud and I was proven wrong.

Vanilla-centric Oud

At first, I did not like Satin mood at all, preferring the somewhat safe combination of rose and oud in Silk mood. But when I tried it again, it impressed me. The opening is a definite vanilla bomb, only it is not too sweet. The oud is not dark but a little bit dirty which suits the vanilla just fine. I do get some spices and slight resins but absolutely no rose nor violet, which is fine by me. This smells a lot like Zafeer but not as synthetic. Smooth and wearable, the sillage is not as strong as Silk but still gets the job done.

Beautiful Scent

Oud Satin Mood opens up with this strong rose water accord, immediately ushering into a jammy raspberry/strawberry moments later. The Oud is very prevalent on my skin the first 15 minutes. Performance wise this fragrance is a monster, 2 sprays recommended, but 4 is the most I would go. Strong silage, dances with you the wearer upon every turn of the body. Such a beautiful fragrance that I own 2 10ml decants, and a brand new 70ml bottle. Price point is kind of steep, but very worth it in my opinion. Recommend sampling/decanting for this is polarizing, and not blind buy safe.
