Mancera Aoud Vanille starts with beautiful, medicinal oud, paired with wintry vanilla. One of the most pleasant openings I have been able to test so far. The oud gives the vanilla a luxurious and clean touch, so it doesn't end up being a boring vanilla scented candle, which bothers me with most vanilla fragrances. Oud and vanilla compete against each other for dominance as the scent develops, with vanilla ultimately triumphing and oud receding into the background. The fragrance ends in a classic, yet pleasant, vanilla-dominated drydown. I find it almost a shame that the oud loses its presence and therefore prefer the opening over the drydown. Longevity is extreme, projection is radioactive, just as one expects from strong Manceras. Absolutely unisex.
