What happened here?

Initially an incredibly great and fresh fragrance. Opening with a slightly over-excited lemon with a transition to a light, beautiful woody sweetness. Leather could only be guessed at. Now, after about 6 months, it's just intense smoke with burnt leather and lemon in between. I don't know where the smoke is coming from so I remain really confused. If anyone has had similar experiences, please post a comment below. I have also not exposed the fragrance to high heat or intense light.

Wow. I also had a vintage version with a twist cap, which got me endless compliments. It was simply brutal, but after about 6-10 months the cedrat somehow changed completely, I just thought I was noseblind but my colleague told me that cedrat somehow smells completely different. Now your review and all the answers to it have once again raised questions in my mind. It's very questionable, something that has never happened before with any fragrance.
Maybe everyone doesn't perceive the fragrance notes or perceives them differently after a while..
God knows what Mancera has experimented with..

I loved the scent at first because it was beautifully citrusy and slightly smoky. At some point, after the brilliant top note had faded, all that was left was a penetrating smoke, I have no idea how that happened. On Fragrantica you often read ashtray.

I have not heard about the change, but the smoke, (synthetic) burnt leather smell is pretty common if you read a lot of reviews. This is a very weird fragrance to me. I have not known a fragrance that has such different opinions on it. Some people say it smells like a candy store, others say an ashtray...

that is strange. i have had my bottle for over two and a half years and it is exactly the same. plus, manceras tipically do not use a lot of naturals in their fragrances, so they really should not change over time if stored properly
