What happened?
Back then, really a long time ago, I believe it must have been about 30 to 40 years ago, my then-colleague wore this fragrance. I thought it was soooo great, this scent. The colleague too ;) It was a fragrance to chase after. A strong, striking, powerful, masculine scent. One that immediately caught your attention. Somehow a fragrance that was only associated with positive things. A happiness-inducing scent. All the girls found it delicious back then. It was mostly the sporty, smart, self-confident type of woman who wore it.
I now randomly received a miniature as a gift and can hardly trust my nose...... This fragrance, which impressed me so much back then, somehow only smells of alcohol and (sorry) old man scent now. What happened? Is it my nose, my sense of smell that may have changed, or has this wonderful fragrance been altered?
I am totally disappointed :(
My rating is of course for the scent from back then and not this watered-down concoction of today.

Amber Tobacco Powerhouse Classic with Lots of Charm
First of all: The scent is truly very special, particularly good with a lot of character and charm.

Through a very nice Mark Cross fragrance enthusiast, I got a 10ml miniature bottle of this classic.

I must confess I love amber scents.

So, how is Mark Cross:
I smell a golden, honey-like, deep amber right from the start. Citrusy, ethereal, herb-sweet, and spicy notes join in. All of this is finely woven with the main component, tobacco.
Yes, there is also a slightly metallic undertone in the background.
This metallic sweet woody tone is unique.

Everything is well balanced and does not remind one of any old men's fragrance that is already 40 years old.

The scent is very rare and is correspondingly traded at a high price.

An absolute recommendation in the classic powerhouse category.

Good things go, bad things come!
Marc Cross was a kind of "insider tip" in the 80s and for me one of the best fragrances on the market.
The scent is somehow a mix of Marc Jacobs Bang and light notes of Karl Lagerfeld Classic. I still cannot understand Rubinstein's decision to stop producing it. Especially in recent years, almost only low-quality quick shots have been released as men's fragrances, and the "good ones" are being pushed out. Most recently, Bang by Marc Jacobs. Being an "insider tip" apparently isn't enough for good sales.

Anyone who can wear this sweet yet spicy-strong powerhouse daily must be a real man. Hello Cappellusman, how's it going? :-D

I won a 10ml bottle at auction and memories came rushing back.
Mabert Man Classic has a similar scent. I tried it.
