Very successful!
To get one thing straight: I love patchouli as an ingredient! Therefore, it's hard for me to go wrong with a fragrance where this note dominates. As long as patchouli is in charge, I'm already quite happy. But of course, there are huge differences among fragrances of this kind, and there can be worlds apart.
Patchouli by Micallef belongs, as expected, to the absolutely high-end category. The couple truly creates their perfumes with love and passion. You can tell.
Patchouli is powerful. At the same time, it is also fine and very nuanced. In my eyes, this is quite a dry patchouli scent. Quite unadulterated. I perceive it as very puristic. It is basically exactly what it says on the label. Definitely, patchouli dominates. And exquisitely and wonderfully so. The wonderful companions that particularly appear in the base, like leather or balsams, or even the sweet vanilla, frame the patchouli. Without ever stealing the show from it. They make it shine and let it be the star. And that it is. A true star. So deep and spicy, mysterious and dark. I have never found patchouli to be hippie-like, but always one of the noblest raw materials in the perfume industry. Micallef has clearly demonstrated this again with this fragrance.
