Cioccolato Amaro e Patchouly Massimiliano Torti – Il Profumiere 2009

I thought it was about time to get you all drooling again, and I mean really drooling, so that the "mouth-water" runs down like a waterfall as soon as you open your mouth. … hmm… somehow that sounds really disgusting right now, doesn’t it? But if you could smell this fragrance here, you would surely understand what I mean :D

Because today I'm talking about Cioccolato Amaro e Patchouly by Massimilliano! Yes, that's right, I'm presenting another chocolate scent! But don’t stone me if the timing is bad, in case you were planning to finally go on a diet and/or exercise to get rid of those pounds you think you gained in winter, to look better for spring. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure you still look sweet as usual even with a few extra pounds! Well, wasn’t that nice? Do you still want to stone me??
But of course you do, because after all, you’re all heartless beasts here!!! :DD

But don’t forget one thing: There’s no chocolate for heartless beasts! Mu ha ha ha!

So, I think I’ve talked enough again, and since I know that you can hardly hold back at the word chocolate anyway, I’ll get right to the fragrance description!

It smells right from the start like chocolate. And I mean really like a bar of milk chocolate, which seems to be made just for people to really bite into it, just like I would love to bite into ladies, and… oh, you know what I mean :D
No, seriously, the chocolate scent is very authentic, which is really nice, so this chocolate-powdery-sweet scent.
A hint of lemon seems to be in the background, and fittingly with the rest of the scent, this lemon doesn’t smell like a citrus fruit, as you know from citrus scents, but more like that liquid lemon flavoring you use for baking, for example.
Also in the background is earthy patchouli. I often dislike patchouli in fragrances, but here this note at least smells quite weak, so it’s not a big deal. Strangely enough, many perfumers seem to think that chocolate and patchouli go together, because I've sniffed quite a few scents with chocolate notes where patchouli was also included. But I don’t want to drift off, so let’s continue. Although there isn’t much more to say about the further development of the scent.
Because only a little later, the citrus and earthy notes mostly disappear. Then it still smells like chocolate, and that remains the case without changing much. Towards the end, the chocolate scent might just become a bit more powdery and softer, which could be due to the balsam, but as I said, it only smells like pure chocolate until the end.

The sillage is quite good, so for a while you will be really noticeable without having to get too close. The longevity is also quite okay, as the scent lasts over ten hours and more. But be careful on clothing, with chocolate scents I often feel like these fragrances seem to last on clothes for weeks…

The bottle looks like a pharmacist's bottle or an old rum bottle with its brown tone and has a retro feel to it. The label also seems to be designed to look old, which fits very well with the rest. The cap is chrome-plated and a small rope with the name of the scent hangs from the neck. A beautiful bottle!

What can I say? This scent basically smells really like chocolate. And despite the many other notes described here, which you might be able to pick out a bit at the beginning, the scent, as mentioned, actually only smells like chocolate and thus very, very delicious. And I think, especially you ladies might really like this scent.

Because a wise man once said: “Men like chocolate, but women love it!” It could also be that this man was me who said that and probably just made it up. Since I talk a lot of nonsense anyway, I don’t remember what I’ve said. But still, the saying seems to hold some truth. I’ve never met a woman who doesn’t like chocolate. Ask a guy if he likes to eat chocolate. He will surely answer “yes!”,… so far so good. Ask a woman if she wants chocolate. She will of course also answer “yes!”, only with the difference that when she hears the word “chocolate,” her eyes get huge and sparkly, almost like those big-eyed (but admittedly cute) anime girls! :D And if you don’t give her the chocolate, the man will only say: “Dude… what are you messing with me here?” while the woman will first scream, then unleash her claws and beat the coveted piece out of you!!! Really brutal!! :D

Anyway, the big question that arises with such a scent is, of course, what one could possibly use such a scent for. And whether one really wants to smell almost exclusively like chocolate? Sure, it’s delicious and all, but it doesn’t smell much like a perfume. I think such a scent is more for leisure, to spray it on from time to time and enjoy its wonderful scent. And since the scent is unisex, it might even make me, for a change, more biteable to the ladies, yes, I really should try that *sigh* :DD
In any case, it’s worth a test, but strictly speaking, it doesn’t differ much from most scents that also smell almost exclusively like chocolate.
