I wish I could sing like Orpheus ...
“… who once managed to make rocks weep - through his song …”
No, don’t worry: I won’t sing like Orpheus, not even like Reinhard Mey, who once pondered what it would be like if …
I can’t sing and I can’t rhyme; when I read various statements here, I am always completely captivated, feeling small and humble.
For me, it’s only enough for mundane words to convey my impressions of a divine fragrance creation.
So I must also limit myself with “Vaniglia Speziata Calda” by Massimiliano Torti Il Profumiere to what I can do.
So there will be no opus, no grand song - just a profane collection of words.
I already mentioned that I was browsing through Serafina’s rich collection before Christmas and came across two creations by this fragrance artist Massimiliano Torti/Il Profumiere.
I had already fallen head over heels for “Amyas Marakesh”; if these fragrances were available online: this one would have long since found its way to me!
Naturally, my curiosity was piqued, and “Vaniglia Speziata Calda” ended up on my wish list and recently also on my skin.
What a sensuous evening; what a night …
(I love “night fragrances”!)
One of the very common statements here is: “What can I say …”
Well, with “Vaniglia Speziata Calda,” I too initially lacked the words - what spread so enjoyably first on my wrist, later around me?
I didn’t want to think; I just wanted to enjoy!
It’s not just warm vanilla, I realize immediately; I have come to know vanilla in many of its forms over the past few years.
From airy, ethereal whispers, like many of Sylvaine Delacourt’s creations, to the feeling of “heavy dripping from the spoon” (like my beloved “Vanille Absolument” by L’Artisan Parfumeur).
Here, I encounter a truly divine vanilla scent, in which it is a delight to sink, to be enveloped by it, and to follow it: Wherever it may lead!
It simmers lazily and thickly in a large copper cauldron, creamy-white and full of sweet sinful aromas, which it first willingly absorbs, then skillfully marries together, and finally generously offers as a delicious finale.
A warm-spicy and sensual vanilla composition is created here.
The love goddess Aphrodite herself stands beside the cauldron, overseeing the work of “Il Profumiere” Massimiliano Torti.
It’s not meant to be a fleeting whiff of fragrance, but a temptation that awakens the senses and caresses them seductively in the form of scent.
They take their time to create this fragrance, and it pays off in the end:
“Vaniglia Speziata Calda” is extraordinary.
Extraordinarily rich, extraordinarily warm, extraordinarily sweet and spicy!
“Spiced warm vanilla”: this name is the program!
Ripe, juicy-sweet oranges are spiced: studded with very old-fashioned kitchen spices like clove and a bit of nutmeg: the beloved Christmas orange is the inspiration here!
Just simply this prepared fruit as the rich vanilla scent overture, no more and no less.
The senses, which are to be stroked and pampered, awaken; they are already stretching under this arrangement.
Now this spicy freshness remains the only ingredient that does not seduce into “sweet sin.”
Caramel in a light milky brown, fine sugar, coarse cane sugar, and banana unite with coconut milk; the already thick vanilla scent mixture becomes even heavier and richer, even creamier. It now bubbles comfortably away.
Even the powdery note, which usually bothers me quite quickly, delights here, as does a generous dose of aromatic tonka bean, accompanied by musk.
What is happening to me?
What magic does this vanilla being unfold?
Everything that is sweet and warming is united here and invites to a balmy cozy enjoyment.
Nothing is overdone, everything maintains a refined balance, despite the warm sweetness, so that sandalwood can be added drop by drop in its own spiciness, always seeming to have little barbs and a bit stubborn, while Aphrodite stirs the entire mélange quietly, singing softly: What fragrance magic does she add?
Here a little something, there a few whispered words.
Finally, she is satisfied with this divine sensory gift that has emerged here:
Singing vanilla angels fly and distribute stardust!
This almost supernatural fragrance pleasure is long-lasting; a swirling orgy in vanilla in a very special way.
Orpheus would have had plenty of time to sing it in beautiful verses and rhymes, while a warm spiced vanilla scent cloud caresses him.
And here he could even turn around and follow her as she drifts away.
For what remains is a tender embrace, a fine vibrating tone, a remembrance of a magic that is intangible.
“Vaniglia speziata calda” - what a divine vanilla!
And with Reinhard Mey’s words, I would like to conclude this 750th fragrance review:
“No rock has come to me
To hear me, no sea
But I have won you
And what more do I want?”
I sincerely thank you for this stage here!
