Dreamy or rather a Nightmare?
After being intrigued by a couple of statements, I participated in a sharing of a lovely perfume. The anticipation was high. Then White Star arrived.
Of course, I had to test it right away, and from the initial wow... came the sobering reality.
About the scent:
Unfortunately, I can't really dissect White Star into its components. But I will try to convey a scent impression to you.
The fragrance starts off very sugary-sweet with a chewing gum note. Or is it more fruity? So, fruit chewing gum! Not bad, but also not overwhelming. What is truly overwhelming is ... the massive sillage. It leaves a scent trail behind that is really noticeable by everyone in the vicinity. And it is also room-filling. Whether that is an advantage in this case is debatable. My daughter just said... Mama, yuck... your perfume stinks. Well... she actually has a good nose for scents... she can sometimes detect more fragrance notes from a scent than I can and is usually right.
But moving on... The scent becomes a bit powdery and remains sweet. Amber? I don't smell it. Vanilla? Doesn't come through. Musk? Um, no! Benzoin... yeah, there is somehow something resinous in there. So, powdery-sweet-resinous. By now, it’s like a chewed-up fruit chewing gum. When you take a sniff from the wrist, it smells quite synthetic. It also reminds me a bit of a wet rag that has just wiped up beer and schnapps from the bar counter.
The longevity is unfortunately quite decent in this case. You can already see... I don’t like it.
When I first tested it, I didn’t notice that at all. Luckily, there are such sharings, and you can thoroughly test an unknown scent before blindly falling into the buying trap :)
Oh yes... the bottle with its white star looks quite modern.
Conclusion:
From the dreamy description by others, White Star is unfortunately a nightmare for me. Scents smell different to everyone.
