Very helpful Review
Misused as a room spray or: How I learned to love you in Greece❤️
Yes, I know, silly title, but it's true :D
Rose Night was a blind buy. I was once again looking for a rose scent without much fuss, and this one caught my attention. My first Montale!
When it arrived about a month ago, I was quite excited as I unpacked it. Well, there's no need to talk about Montale bottles, as they say here in the green sauce city ;) It's a matter of taste; I don't like them all either. But I must say that I quite like the bottle due to the color combination.
So here we go. Sprayed on Rose Night and spent the day with it.
Summary:
Rose -> Yes, and very artificial. No juicy, full rose. No, quite synthetic (but not bad)
Patchouli -> a hint
Amber -> towards the end, just before it fades away
Musk -> Nope
Longevity and sillage -> insane, lasts easily 10-12 hours and wafts back to your nose repeatedly.
It doesn't go through much development. The rose is dominant and becomes sweeter towards the end and maybe a bit "realer" as the synthetic notes fade a bit. As I mentioned in my statement, Rose Night is not really oriental for me.
A bit disappointed, it first went to the shelf with its other colleagues and was skillfully ignored.
Two weeks ago, my partner and I vacationed on a beautiful island in Greece. Naturally, the question arose:
Which perfume should I take with me?
Actually totally silly. According to the weather... 30-34 degrees, not a single cloud in the sky, hotel right by the sea, which idiot wears perfume there? Well, me, maybe for the evening if we go out to eat or drink...
Did I do it? Yes. Twice in 10 days :D
Thus, Rose Night enjoyed its existence in Greece in the bathroom there and was occasionally misused as a room spray...
Until the last day.
I wore Rose Night and we went to watch the sunset at the beach one last time. With a bottle of champagne in tow. We watched the ships sail into the evening glow and decided to go for a cocktail at a very nice bar afterwards.
Our last evening went by way too quickly, and the next morning the alarm rang. We could only have a quick breakfast because soon the transfer bus would pick us up and take us to the airport.
I suggested we quickly go to the beach and say goodbye to the sea (Yes, I know it sounds silly). This time at sunrise.
As we stood there, my sweetheart hugged me and promised that we would come back soon and that I should please wear this beautiful perfume again next time... It would always remind him of the island and me.. ;(

I could picture it all perfectly. I'm still on the hunt for THE rose scent that blows me away. There are bush roses with yellow flowers that smell wonderfully of honey-sweet rose, and that's exactly what I'm looking for and would love to have. If anyone knows of something like that, please write to me!

A scent forever linked to a beautiful memory. That's how fragrances work, and that's the beauty of it! I really enjoyed reading your story!

It's a lovely story, and it shows how much our perception of scents depends on the situation. I just can't get along with Montales. It just doesn't work for me. I'm glad that at least this one is something special for you.
