Oudrising Montale 2020

Oudrising is one of those fragrances that I really didn't like at all the first time I tested it.
It just struck me as dark, leathery, and unpleasant.
However, over time, this has changed quite a bit, as I had significantly different impressions during my second test. Still, I won't become a true fan of this little potion.

The scent definitely starts off noticeably leathery. However, it actually has a citrus facet that resonates. Grapefruit is listed, and I think that can be confirmed.
A bit of grapefruit and bergamot gives the opening something special alongside the leathery impression. I had only known this kind of combination from Memo Paris, and Memo Paris simply excels at this. Montale has also managed this quite well with Oudrising. However, this citrus impression is definitely weaker compared to the leather.

Over time, the citrus impression recedes more and more.
The leather remains, but is now more pleasant.
Accompanying it is a rather dark type of oud, some rose, and patchouli.
A smoky veil is also already noticeable.
Towards the end, I even had the impression of perceiving a very slight sweetness, and the fragrance generally feels a bit rounder.
