This is a fragrance that took me twice wearing it to really appreciate the fragrance. My initial impression was that of a really smooth but boring leather, then I decided to try it again just because it was a blind purchase... And I'm glad that I did. Not only is this a creamy and smooth leather but it also has some complexity to it, citrus from the grapefruit along with the rose and now it's love. Definitely last 8hrs for me on my skin.

An animalistic ferocity

In the community of fragrances, much of them is woody, no doubt, but not all of them come together so well to form a welcoming whole as Oudrising does. This unusual blend brings us a large amount of the insanity that an animal feels when it hunts in the wild woods. This is how I would describe another great creation from Montale.

First a little about the presentation itself. Satisfactory, but without that WOW impression. Definitely the form of perfume from Montale has become a bit dated, and painting a beautiful bird on the facade of the bottle unfortunately doesn't save it. It's not something I would have expected from such a fine interior.

When you spray this fragrance on yourself, you are applying a piece of the forest world to your skin. You can certainly feel that whiff of wet leaves and the shattered wood of overgrown plants underfoot.

The composition opens with an unusual combination of wild leather with fresh bergamot, pink grapefruit and spicy pepper. These ingredients make us feel a hint of freshness combined with very raw materials. Right from the start, we are able to tell that we are in a leather goods manufactory strewn around with wild citrus plants.
After such a luscious opening, we are transported to a primal world of trees, smoke and aromatic flowers. It is this great middle ground that gives the whole fragrance the impression of wild escape through the forest amidst grand old spice-smoke trees and intense floral aromas. Interestingly, the plants do not impart any femininity, conversely they stimulate the sexual thinking of men, awakening the wild hunter in them. I have no hesitation in saying that this is an extremely erotic fragrance.

This whole is surrounded by intense notes of tobacco, incense, cedar and musk. These give an ambery warm spicy character that brilliantly underlines its companions. It adds a touch of sweetness encapsulating this wild whole.

It is a VERY long-lasting fragrance, one of the most long-lasting I have in my collection (and there is a lot of that kind). Such a powerful perfume needs to be applied with care. As I have mentioned several times before, this is ultimately the wildness of nature reworked into the essence of a perfume. The price is very satisfactory for such a rich and high quality fragrance. One so beautifully complex that will appeal to particularly refined tastes. I highly recommend it to bold women and men who know how sexy they truly are, and want to try something new and unusual.

Hard-hitting Santal Royal Copy with Impact

I got the fragrance at a good price and actually wanted to get rid of it right away, without opening the original packaging.
But since Montale has always impressed me so far, I couldn't resist

And lo and behold: am I disappointed or not...?

The opening hits hard, it's probably the pepper.
But then, WHAT? I love it! But I know this scent, right?
YES, it is a copy of Santal Royal... I can't describe it any other way.
Of course, it's much louder, but even the Montale performance doesn't seem as special next to Guerlain's
The bottle is stylish, but in the 50ml version I have, it's less impressive. No pattern.

Explosion of Grapefruit and Leather

At the beginning, a fresh explosion of grapefruit and leather with a bit of sharpness. The leather is rather light. After a while, you can also smell the oud.

I would generally say that the development of the fragrance is linear. As mentioned, it starts off a bit fruitier but becomes very linear as it progresses. A distinctive mix of leather and oud with a certain sweetness in the background.

In my opinion, the fragrance is somewhat synthetic but not as extreme as other scents from Montale.
The projection is good but
not exaggerated. You can also wear the fragrance in the office if you don’t apply too much.
The longevity is about 7-8 hours.

Somehow, Oudrising reminds me of Ombre Nomade by LV but absolutely not as elegant and balanced; however, that’s just my personal feeling.

However, this will probably be my only bottle from the brand, as I find the fragrances a bit too synthetic.

Dark, leathery, woody with a hint of grapefruit

Oudrising is one of those fragrances that I really didn't like at all the first time I tested it.
It just struck me as dark, leathery, and unpleasant.
However, over time, this has changed quite a bit, as I had significantly different impressions during my second test. Still, I won't become a true fan of this little potion.

The scent definitely starts off noticeably leathery. However, it actually has a citrus facet that resonates. Grapefruit is listed, and I think that can be confirmed.
A bit of grapefruit and bergamot gives the opening something special alongside the leathery impression. I had only known this kind of combination from Memo Paris, and Memo Paris simply excels at this. Montale has also managed this quite well with Oudrising. However, this citrus impression is definitely weaker compared to the leather.

Over time, the citrus impression recedes more and more.
The leather remains, but is now more pleasant.
Accompanying it is a rather dark type of oud, some rose, and patchouli.
A smoky veil is also already noticeable.
Towards the end, I even had the impression of perceiving a very slight sweetness, and the fragrance generally feels a bit rounder.
