The "Golden Raspberry" goes to ...
... Montblanc! :-) Yes, I know, it actually stands for poorly made, trashy films, but the association was just so fitting. And aside from the Hollywood business, there's nothing wrong with a refined sweet fruit, at least not in terms of perfume. With a staggering 21 ingredients mentioned here, it’s not hard to immediately pick out that one, the raspberry. It is sweet, as one would expect, but I actually don’t expect it to be so dominant in an EDT. However, it is called "Individuel," a name that asserts its validity right from the first spray.
The raspberry is, of course, appropriately packaged here, enveloped by a bit of mint and other herbs. It thrives on a bed of musk and wood shavings, with a few fallen petals scattered around to release their residual scent. And yes, with a bit of imagination, my nose can also detect a slightly chocolatey undertone. Overall, I’m glad that the raspberry doesn’t come off overly sweet. This keeps the sweetness within a very pleasant range that is tolerable for me as a fan of fresh scents.
Fortunately (for me), they refrain from giving the whole thing an earthy and/or prudish base to make the scent come off more gentlemanly, but also more old-fashioned. Overall, this creates a summery sweetness that fits the raspberry harvest season and that I associate more with a Berliner Weiße than with gummy bears. "Individuel" convinces me (aside from the price of around €30 for 100 ml) as an all-year-round scent for any occasion. I just have to feel like wearing it, but that’s easily the case once a week. Well done, Mr. Bourdon, I would say! :-)
PS: Could also pass as a unisex scent with a slightly stronger floral component!
