Oh, come on!
Yesss, it’s a designer, I get it. Still, one should expect more than this watery concoction with no character.
Especially with the "Masterpiece," I had high hopes due to the association with the luxurious writing instrument and the focus on only two fragrance notes! Serge Lutens takes similar paths and does so with great success. So it is possible.
However, the result in this case is not even disappointing, even when you lower your expectations.
In short, there is almost nothing to say (which I will do in great detail shortly):
You have to search for the "scent" with a nasal magnifying glass; I notice absolutely nothing of the incense, neither on the test strip nor on the skin. Ambrofix is listed, but nothing comes through. I have some of these fragrance chemicals at home and trust myself to smell them. Either the concentration is simply too low or it’s something else. Overall, a very light sweetness, a hint of woodiness. That’s it... and you can either like that or not, and it doesn’t have to be bad if only the longevity and sillage were right.
The sillage is almost non-existent: I and the salesperson had to really get about 10 cm close to perceive the scent. Mind you: right after spraying.
There is no scent progression; it remains the same as when sprayed and weakens minute by minute.
The longevity is miserable as well. I was in the perfumery for about an hour and then drove home. Upon arriving home, I could hardly perceive anything close to my skin. It could be due to the interplay of my skin and the fragrance, but the same picture was presented on the test strip.
The best part of the whole thing is the bottle, which looks really nice, though it doesn’t quite hold up in terms of tactile experience. One is used to better from Montblanc... although, if the only positive aspect of a perfume is that the bottle, despite being of average quality, looks quite pretty, that’s already an olfactory confession of failure.
For the price, it’s a real disappointment: a lot of money for a hint of nothing. Maybe a few more complementary fragrance notes and a higher concentration of them would have been better?
Conclusion: Just because you own a Montblanc Meisterstück doesn’t automatically mean you create top notes. The substance must also fit.

This comment is misleading - aside from the beautiful bottle, hardly anything is accurate here. Without the "seller" note, I would have thought it was a fake. Taste is subjective, but only smelling sweetness and a bit of wood is surprising. Maybe it's due to skin chemistry - but more likely it's about perception. The scent starts off heavily incense-based with strong sillage in the first 2-3 hours. I was even asked who smells like incense. After that, it becomes pleasantly amber, never too sweet. The longevity? Easily 10 hours. On Fragrantica, it has 4.44 stars with a majority saying "long lasting" and "strong." Statistically, the chances that your impressions are correct are extremely low. I don't know what you tested - but it certainly wasn't this fragrance.

I applied the scent today with just a tiny spray on the back of my hand, and I've been able to smell it continuously for an hour. My scent-sensitive wife even said that the whole living room smells of it. Well, it seems my version is definitely more potent.

Totally agree with your assessment. A big disappointment for me too.
