Interesting Underdog from Another Universe
Homem Essence is a Brazilian fragrance, which makes it somewhat hard to find in our European market / continent.
I hunted it down some time ago because I was eager to find scents that lean towards La Nuit de L'Homme. Simply because I love that mix of cardamom, sweet, and fresh notes...
Well, during my search for fragrance notes on Parfumo, I stumbled upon this "alien".
Speaking of alien, even the bottle looks a bit like it’s from another planet. An alien, spacey unibody, as if it were melted from a single piece.
As for the scent itself:
Homem Essence is for me a woody-spicy, but also fresh-citrusy fragrance. It somehow also creates a delicate impression of creamy almond milk, but that’s not the main player - more like a balsamic base.
In fact, the cardamom with the bergamot in the top notes briefly reminds me of La Nuit de L'Homme, especially when you smell very close to the wrist.
But it is still somewhat independent, and not quite as high-quality as LNDL in appearance. If it were a La Nuit flanker, it would be called "La Nuit de L'Homme - Young Summer Nights" or something, as it somehow feels a bit fresher and... cheaper. :D
A bit like a cross between La Nuit de L'Homme and Boss Bottled Tonic, if that helps you imagine it better. :)
But not in a bad way, so I believe there are many popular fragrances that are significantly more annoying and cheaper / worse, like Acqua di Giò Absolu Instinct - it does something similar, but I find it clumsier and inferior.
By the way, the longevity and projection / sillage of Homem is quite decent, but not better, and thus amusingly on par with LNDL - very authentic. ;P
Homem Essence is overall quite good, nothing you absolutely need, but some might enjoy having a bluish-fresh variant of LNDL that exists in another universe. ;)
