A medley of Caviar and Vodka from the Caspian and Black Seas
Mention the word "caviar," and you may think of fancy parties and swanky New Year's Eve soirees. Still, in reality, it is merely the roe, or eggs, harvested from one of the varieties of the sturgeon fish, usually Sevruga, Beluga, or Ossetra. The taste is briny, revealing a rich, robust flavor as delicate, dark beads melt in the mouth. To some, they are an acquired taste and are not everyone's cup of tea. A venerable Russian tradition, the pairing of vodka and caviar is customary throughout the world of gastronomy. Like wine and cheese, they are the ideal complements to one another. Served ice cold, vodka has a subtle flavor that allows the distinctive taste of caviar to prevail. Old-school vodkas that taste like the grain from which they are distilled work beautifully here. Few things go together as perfectly as peanut butter and jelly – except when you eat caviar and vodka. Whatever vodka you choose, whatever caviar you can afford, the experience itself is what matters.
Oh man, does New Brand 4 Men smell like sturgeon's eggs? Of course, not. The preface was a joke, given that in the pyramid, there are two eerie notes: caviar lime and chilled vodka.
The official composition has spicy mint, sweet ginger, and amber woody accords, and brings notes of Caviar lime, which I will explain ahead, frozen mint and black pepper, in the opening. In the heart of the fragrance, a cocktail of chilled vodka, hot ginger, and apple slices. In the base, notes of Kingwood, salty amber, and tonka beans.
But what is that Caviar lime? It's the Citrus Australasica - a plant with citrus fruits, peculiar format, and fully differentiated pulp, which looks like caviar but does have a citrus flavor. It can have various colors and is also known as Finger Lime. It would be best if you were careful with what you read out there because, according to some websites, the fragrance would have notes of lime and caviar, separately. Who wants to smell like fish? Some state the presence of passion, fruit, and leather. Well, the leather could be an accord derived from a blend of other notes.
On the skin, the opening is citrus and slightly green. The pepper is not overpowering, and the minty note well balances the citrus. All the times in which I returned with my nose to the place where I sprayed, I felt the mint well evident. So, the opening immediately brings you a full feeling of fresh lemon and slightly spicy spices.
Then, quickly, cold accords arise, balancing the zesty aspect. There is a mixture of sweet and ginger, but I didn't feel the apple note. Indeed, a whiff of alcoholic vodka arises from time to time. The refreshing citrus flavor complements the vodka booziness without overpowering it.
Towards the end, the sweet scent of warm amber and woody aroma dominate. The amber adds creaminess, even more by the fact of being allied with the smell of tonka beans. But there is, indeed, a salty aspect in it. Finally, the Kingwood gave a drier aroma to the fragrance. As it dries down, I do sense more of the ginger as the spice and less of the original pepper from the opening, which allows NB 4 Men to take on a different vibe. I would say that the cologne gets better as time wears on.
On my skin, it projects well for about 2 hours, then stays close. But the lasting is right, of approximately 8 hours. This redolence of oriental woody group will surprise you by modernity, and youthfulness is evident in each scent layer. Now, with the vodka note, this does have that boozy feel to it, which is perfect for the nightlife. And it's designed to be that way. That is a cold-weather performer. I'll be wearing this a lot during the fall and wintertime, as it seems I'm always finding great scents to wear during this time of the year
Overall, do I think NB 4 Men is worth a buy? Yes! I bought my bottle and am very glad that I did. It's excellent across the board. It smells terrific, it lasts a long time, it isn't weak, and it's incredible for nightlife. Designed for young buddies, I don't mind wearing it despite am a 54 yo daddy. I might be wrong, yet the final notes remind me of Armani Black Code without the olive blossom touch, so different one another yet sharing the same vibe, elegance, and confidence.
