Dill Spice Smells So Nice...
Linfedele opens on skin with a dark spicy blast of dill, turmeric and what appears to be cumin showing as a mild BO undertone that actually works here (even though it is not listed in the notes), with maybe just the faintest hint of citrus in the far background. The dill definitely dominates the other notes and continues to hang around into the heart notes, where it is joined by clove and even a subtle coffee undertone that at first I did not notice, but after further wearing it became more apparent. The real base becomes sweeter and does not develop until much later... so late that at first I thought the scent was gone, and then when waking up the next morning the sweet base was definitely evident. It consists primarily of a semi-sweet vanilla (which is quite natural and not of the powdery variety), a mild incense supporting note and I believe I detect even a hint of sweet sandalwood as well (even though it also is not listed in the notes section). Projection is below average, but longevity, while somewhat mysterious (as the spicy heart notes seems to disappear after about 4 hours, only to have the sweet base notes re-appear much later) is quite good.

Linfidele is a very unique and interesting scent. I can't think of a single scent I have smelled like it to date. That said, while it takes a couple wearings to get used to, it smells quite intriguing, and I mean this in a good way. I don't think I can afford buying a full bottle, but I have to applaud the folks at Odriu for trying something unique, but still doing a great job in putting some difficult notes (like the dill) together in a way that still works and is wearable. Linfedele is not going to appeal to everybody, but I don't think that is what Odriu was going for. It is designed for the person who demands quality and individuality in materials and scent composition, while still expecting something wearable. Definitely a sniff is recommended, especially to demanding spicy scent lovers. 4 stars out of 5.

Variation on the Clove
Lovingly and artistically designed, the black, handwritten envelope lies before me. It contains a sample of Linfedele 1004, a feather, a card with the notes, a torn black-and-white photo, and pasted Italian text, of which I do not know whether it would contribute any valuable information. Individuality, luxury, and craftsmanship seemed to be the qualities that were intended to be associated with the perfumes. At this point, many thanks again to Joe for these samples.

Despite all the effort surrounding it, it is ultimately all about the scent, and it seems to me that O'Driu has specialized entirely in high-quality natural perfumery.

Linfedele Mille Quattro is a spicy scent. Amidst all the opulence, the clove is at the center, yet it has been somewhat overshadowed by a variety of other aromas. It almost smells like allspice, but this distortion feels interesting and appealing.

As is often the case with natural scents, a grand opening is followed by a more or less rapid fading. This, to my knowledge, is due to the absence of chemical fixatives, which customers must accept with these perfumes. After all, the fading process of Linfedele 1004 lasts quite a while.

The opulent opening confuses with a multitude of aromas. Overall, it creates an ethereal impression, somewhat reminiscent of medicinal cold ointment. This beautifully aligns with the herbally altered clove that emerges.

With the gradual fading of the somewhat dominant spice, a base finally timidly makes itself known, which I perceive as chypre-like in style - very nice!

I personally like this fragrance direction, but I do not understand the reasoning behind the dogma of avoiding fixative substances. One simply does not know how to dose it - the scent bomb at the beginning simply does not last. Perfumes of this kind must probably be treated as a sort of Eau de Cologne. Here, there is only the fleeting scent, which, however, does not necessarily have to be a flaw in every case.

The concept of O'Driù seems not to have succeeded. The online presence currently appears deserted. Can this surprise us? I believe there was simply too much Chi-Chi: elaborate presentations and production in small series - for the results of the artistic efforts, of course, astronomical prices were demanded.

Anyone who spends hundreds of euros on a bit of perfume either cannot handle money or knows very well what they are placing before themselves. In the case of Linfidele Mille Quattro, one must unfortunately note that with Equipage by Hermès, there is a spicy chypre for men with a much stronger character - and at a moderate price.

Must we already say goodbye to the young brand O'Driù? I fear that someone has grossly overestimated their possibilities.
