The perfume version of Yves Rocher oat&buckwheat body lotion
This is what you call a unique scent profile: salty gourmand.
The opening is sharp to my nose, I suspect it's the bergamot and red apple notes that are just too sharp to my nose. It hits me the way some fragrances' alcohol will have you take a step back from your own arm after you test spraying a perfume.
Though the candied red apple does add a level of sweetness, the type of sweetness freshness you expect from an apple note, I personally would have preferred if the opening was with a peach or pear. I love to eat the fruit but haven't encountered a perfume yet that has the apple note and that is too sharp to begin with.
After 5 minutes or so, I try to forget about the sharpness and I experience a fruity and the expected freshness of the apple note. It's mixed in a bowl of salted oats. It has just less then a pinch of salt, just enough for me to perceive something salty without it completely deterring me from eating this bowl of oat & buckwheat with red apples, orange mandarins, cinnamon, iris and some other softening flowers.
The apricot and cinnamon create a comforting middle. How can I express this the best? You know when you've left your bowl of warmed oats for a while on the table, the top layer will feel lukewarm but once your spoon goes in a bit deeper, you can taste the warmness of your oats. I don't find any of the notes overpowering one another once the top notes fade to the background. It's rather a pleasurable exchange between salty/milk/apricot/buckwheat and oats. The milkiness probably comes from my own association with oats.
The iris and sandalwood give it some softness, powdery vibe. I don't particularly enjoy milky scents on my skin.
Performance: it really and truly doesn't last despite this being an EdP. It performs more like a weak EdC. It doesn't even hold on my clothes for that matter which is truly a shame. It's still one of my favourites.
If you tried and loved the body lotion of Yves Rocher Oat&Buckwheat you'd join me in demanding Yves Rocher to release an EdP of their body lotion.
If anyone is familiar with Jo Malone's Oat & Cornflower, this one is NOTHING like it. IMO Jo Malone's oat rendition smells and isn't pleasant, it actually smells like the box of oats that was left in the kitchen cabinet since 2020, very closeted and like a box.
Unfortunately the original perfume has been discontinued, again. The Brazilian house behind this perfume has a tendency to discontinue this specific perfume every 010-15 years. It's a shame because they're known for their ''inspired by'' perfumes and this Make B. Rosé was an actual perfume without any known predecessors.
I don't know why I got a warning that my review might be AI generated but it really isn't. I think anyone could tell. from reading my reviews. Me writing this post was my own personal exercise to learn how to express what I smell and feel with some of my perfumes.
