Soft, potent vanilla pudding
I am a newcomer to the niche fragrance world and certainly do not have the finest nose. Nuances escape me, so I approach the whole thing rather pragmatically. I hope you can forgive me for that.
I love the fantastic scent of Herod, but unfortunately my skin completely absorbs it, leaving almost nothing after just a few hours. Due to the relatively poor longevity on me, I ordered a few fragrances from Alexandria Fragrances because of their good reputation. Among them is Arabian Horse.
The similarity to Herod is definitely present, but I would rather see it as an alternative to Spicebomb Extreme. AH starts off more cinnamon and spicy, less fruity, and I don't perceive apple compared to Herod. Over time, I find Herod wilder, almost metallic. AH, on the other hand, is much softer, rounder, and more comforting. Spicebomb is stronger, spicier, and in comparison, almost scratchy.
As it develops, I smell much more vanilla and musk, which is why the scent reminds me more of steamed dumplings with vanilla sauce or vanilla pudding in the most positive sense. The scent is still very masculine.
The longevity is phenomenal for me, and after 8 hours, I sometimes catch myself sniffing my wrist. Even after showering, I can still smell it.
I will definitely keep AH and will reorder it at some point.
Being labeled as a dupe is something AH definitely does not deserve in my view. It is a damn potent, great, and independent scent with addictive potential.
Cheers!
