As far as I can remember and according to my mother's stories, I was always a cheerful child. I loved kindergarten. Other children to play with and of course a fantastic playground. I always wanted to be the first on the slide. Whether it was sunny or raining, it didn't matter, I just wanted to slide. One can imagine that my mother wasn't too thrilled about it in rainy weather. But it was worth it.
On that playground, there was also a chestnut tree. Edible chestnuts, of course. I always took a lot home with me. There, I would spend what felt like hours peeling the shells and eating them. I just found chestnuts super delicious.
Even though I had to endure some pain in the process. Keyword: fingernails. The funny thing is that I can't stand roasted chestnuts. Even though chestnuts are just another type of chestnut.
Still, it was a must for me to test Mirage Daydream.
Some may find the bottle in this milky soft pink to be kitschy, but I think it’s really beautiful. More girly is not possible.
As for the scent. First, a strong alcohol note hits the nose. However, this passes quite quickly, and I can perceive the chestnuts, which immediately blend with a vanilla foam. Cocoa gives it a hint of chocolate and makes it slightly powdery. Peru balsam and cedar prevent it from becoming cloyingly sweet. I can only faintly detect jasmine and lily in the background. There isn’t a great scent progression on my skin. However, I don’t find that to be a problem because I like the scent as it is.
Unfortunately, there are also downsides. Sillage and longevity. Mirage Daydream is immediately close to the skin, and after about 2 hours, I have to practically stick my nose to my wrist to recognize it. However, it lasts relatively long on clothing. I could still smell it on my jacket the next day.
Mirage Daydream is a sweet and powdery scent with a lovely chestnut note. Perfect for winter.
And as for the roasted chestnuts, I once read that the taste changes every 7 years. That time is now up. Maybe I’ll give it another try at the next Christmas market.
