Pink ruffles and unicorn clouds
This is a delightful little gem of a perfume. The Swedes really know how to put a scent together! I am looking forward to more by this house, and I wish they were easier to procure in the United States.

Initially, I wasn’t too impressed with this scent. It was sweet and musky with a slight creaminess to my nose, and I thought it was rather bland and generic. About an hour later the jasmine began to emerge, but it was in a very odd way. As I sniffed my wrist, it still seemed mostly sweet and musky, but around my head was swirling this beautiful creamy-vanilla-jasmine! It smelled SO GOOD! But whenever I sniff my wrist, I do not smell this. That phenomenon is just so intriguing to me!

Sillage is moderate; it doesn’t project much further than arm’s length, I’d say, and I sprayed two on the back of my neck/hair, once on my chest, and once on each arm. Longevity is about 6 hours, then it fades away.

I received this perfume in a swap. I was drawn to it because of the chestnut note, combined with the whipped cream. I really wanted to experience that, and it did not disappoint! This is an underrated gem, and I’m so glad I can include it in my collection. The bottle is very pretty: pink and “ruffled,” which is how this perfume smells!

I think this would be office, school, and church safe. Anyone getting close to you will be swept away into a creamy and fluffy pink cloud! It truly is a Daydream in a bottle.

Overall, I give this one an 8.5/10. I just wish it were *slightly* stronger and a bit less sweet at the top.

another day, another daydream
Quizduell forms.
Thanks to this app, which has captivated over 18 million smartphone users in this country, Sweden is no longer just inextricably linked to Ikea and Knut, with blue and yellow flags and a German-born queen, with Köttbullar and Smörrebröd - thanks to Quizduell, I now also know that the Swedes lead the world in per capita candy consumption.
At least that's what a question writer claims, and question writers are always right, at least for now.
I had guessed the Americans, eyed the Swiss chocolate, but wrong, all wrong - the Sweden rectangle glowed green and tossed another prejudice overboard.

So the Swedes love sweets.
Lots of sweets.
And even more sweets.
That makes them fundamentally likable to me - but it also makes me cautious about a fragrance that has Sweden as its country of origin and lists whipped cream, vanilla, and cocoa in its ingredients.
And chestnuts, of course - chestnuts that I buy hot, sweet, and sticky from the little round woman at the local Christmas market, year after year, and whose scent I had longed for just as eagerly as I had searched in "Marron Chic" in vain.
Here, perhaps, I would find what I was looking for, in this fragrance from Sweden, the land of unlimited sweets.
I was excited.
And I was afraid.
Of diabetes, cavities, sugar shock, of wrinkled noses and fading senses, of evil looks and the stamp "Public Nuisance!" because I was so bold as to unleash such an obviously wintry gourmand bomb on humanity in July - in July!
And yet - how could I not?
How can a perfumist who takes themselves seriously ever not...?

To make a long story short: I’m still alive.
I have neither been tarred nor feathered, I have not been banished from the city, and no one has approached me solely with a gas mask.
My partner is still my partner, no one has ended their friendship with me - and no one has to fear becoming a case for the emergency room by using "Mirage Daydream."
Not even for the dentist.

For four days, "Mirage Daydream" accompanied me, for four days we experienced highly different weather conditions together, for four days "Mirage Daydream" showed me various facets of its personality.
Test day 1 brought me temperatures near the 30°C mark, high humidity, and a "daydream" that, after a sweet-scratchy opening of nutty roasted aromas, soon developed a continuously intensifying hairspray note, the origin of which I cannot quite identify, as the otherwise easily identifiable culprit, white musk, does not seem to be present here.
The fragrance, however, is not bothered - after about an hour, all nutty-chestnut elements have disappeared under a dense veil of hairspray that lets nothing else through and has completely dissipated after a maximum of five hours.
And leaves me a bit disillusioned.
That was not what I had expected - I almost wanted to think of a spoiled sample, as the laboratory container from the Franfans Wanderpaket 2.0 had already traveled a long way before it arrived at my place and was initially put on hold.
But the next day brought a surprise: Pouring rain and an outside temperature of 15°C allowed a beautiful, caramel-tinged chestnut accord to waft from my skin, moderately sweet and not sticky at all, just a bit scratchy and so close to the skin that not only can no one feel disturbed, but the man by my side also has to move significantly closer to catch a whiff of the scent.
Very fine, very delicious - and I don’t even want to know where the hairspray from the previous day has gone.
The fragrance could have stayed with me all day and night, but alas: It not only remained very close to me, but also proved to be a bit commitment-phobic that day.
Curious about which olfactory daydreams were still waiting to be discovered, I decided to extend the testing phase, so that on the third day, dressed in a knitted sweater and leather jacket, trudging through the autumnal downpour, I carried a delicately dense aura of delicious creamy chocolate-nut aromas around me, which no one but myself perceives, yet remains throughout the long day into the night.
And today, on the fourth day?
It’s warm outside, very warm, the humidity of two rainy days hangs in the air, thunderstorms are forecasted - and on my skin hangs a hint of hairspray.
Just hairspray.
No chestnuts, no roasted aromas, no cream, and no sweetness.
Another day, another daydream.

As different as my impressions may be over the four consecutive days, they seem to indicate that "Mirage Daydream" is a fragrance for cooler days - not because of its intensity, but because this fragrance seems to develop only at lower temperatures as it apparently is intended to.
Muggy, summery temperatures strip the fragrance of its gourmand character, which seems to unfold more distinctly only well below the 20°C mark.
This fascinates me, as I have previously known it to be the opposite - and I begin to wonder if the actual bomb, the real sillage monster only reveals itself around freezing point and then holds and holds and holds...

Short, intense cream games are not for me
I sniffed briefly at the sample, and it smelled very appealing, especially for gourmand fans. But on the wrist, the first hour is far too extreme and greasy even for very sweet noses. A creamy fat maker par excellence, full of cream, a bit of cocoa, and calories!

It starts powdery and very creamy. It sounds light and fluffy, but it is not at all. So sweet that it almost makes one feel sick, and today it wasn't even warm! Cream and vanilla in top form and far too much in focus. Even I don't like it anymore, and my nose hasn't developed into a bitter one in the last 18 months. The floral part with jasmine doesn't please me as much as it should have to balance out the sugar overkill. Only the cedar in the dry down beautifies the result a bit. A very extreme, unbalanced perfume, for which I am unusually glad that it doesn't last long. You really think you could get fat just from smelling it!

Longevity is around 5-6 hours, which is quite poor for this type of oriental-balsamic fragrance. But that was enough for me. The sillage is strong for this duration, and as I said, if the nose gets too close, it induces a gag reflex. So, it's not a cuddly scent, whether for man or woman. However, the shell-like bottle is nice.

A praline as a scent - please use in minimal amounts and keep away from me!

Goodbye my Chestnut Cream
I found and still find that the scent notes in Mirage Daydream sound very promising, so I ordered the fragrance blind. Because I love the scent of chestnuts, I wanted to try such a gourmand fragrance, especially since I don't know any other scent that puts the chestnut aroma in the foreground.
When I first tried it, I was torn.
At first, I really enjoyed the scent. I wanted a sweet chestnut gourmand and got exactly that. The impression is comparable to the chestnut cream from Bonne Maman - ingredients: chestnuts, sugar, vanilla. I loved this cream as a child; it was something that I only had on special occasions and was only available in French supermarkets.

So yes, the scent really smells delicious - BUT
unfortunately, it has poor longevity, very weak sillage, and - what weighs heaviest - incredibly one-dimensional. I notice no development of the fragrance, no Aha moment where I discover another facet of the scent. I also don't smell cedar or hardly anything floral. The (short) scent impression remains at chestnut cream with a hint of whipped cream.
And yes, I like gourmand fragrances, but please with substance! Complex, versatile scents that don't need heaps of sugar. Unfortunately, Mirage Daydream completely lacks substance. Incredibly boring very quickly and goodbye! Such a shame.

Of Chestnuts and Kindergarten Days
As far as I can remember and according to my mother's stories, I was always a cheerful child. I loved kindergarten. Other children to play with and of course a fantastic playground. I always wanted to be the first on the slide. Whether it was sunny or raining, it didn't matter, I just wanted to slide. One can imagine that my mother wasn't too thrilled about it in rainy weather. But it was worth it.
On that playground, there was also a chestnut tree. Edible chestnuts, of course. I always took a lot home with me. There, I would spend what felt like hours peeling the shells and eating them. I just found chestnuts super delicious.
Even though I had to endure some pain in the process. Keyword: fingernails. The funny thing is that I can't stand roasted chestnuts. Even though chestnuts are just another type of chestnut.
Still, it was a must for me to test Mirage Daydream.

Some may find the bottle in this milky soft pink to be kitschy, but I think it’s really beautiful. More girly is not possible.
As for the scent. First, a strong alcohol note hits the nose. However, this passes quite quickly, and I can perceive the chestnuts, which immediately blend with a vanilla foam. Cocoa gives it a hint of chocolate and makes it slightly powdery. Peru balsam and cedar prevent it from becoming cloyingly sweet. I can only faintly detect jasmine and lily in the background. There isn’t a great scent progression on my skin. However, I don’t find that to be a problem because I like the scent as it is.

Unfortunately, there are also downsides. Sillage and longevity. Mirage Daydream is immediately close to the skin, and after about 2 hours, I have to practically stick my nose to my wrist to recognize it. However, it lasts relatively long on clothing. I could still smell it on my jacket the next day.

Mirage Daydream is a sweet and powdery scent with a lovely chestnut note. Perfect for winter.

And as for the roasted chestnuts, I once read that the taste changes every 7 years. That time is now up. Maybe I’ll give it another try at the next Christmas market.

I smell cream, vanilla, musk, and jasmine. Gets less sweet and more floral as time goes on. It's whisper-light, but surrounds me--Delicious!

I do notice roasted chestnuts, cream, and vanilla, but it's too short-lived. Too bad, because the scent itself is nice.

Fermented, tobacco? Slightly gourmand, beautiful floral mix, nice scent, unfortunately: synthetic, sillage and longevity are mediocre.

Vanilla, jasmine, Peru balsam. Nothing else from the pyramid. But a lot of musk. Extremely artificial and dense. Only for hardcore cream fans!

Unfortunately, it's extremely weak...just a sweet (but delicious!) hint! Typical Oriflame? The green Mirage brother at least has more power!
