Ormonde Man (EDP) was one of the first fragrances I discovered here at Parfumo and ordered as a sample at the time. Let's say my nose was still "young" and I was quite inexperienced. The journey continued, and I had experiences with oud, orientals, chypres... The list of scents to remember and test steadily grew.

When I looked at my list again a few weeks ago, "my" classic caught my eye once more, and since my birthday was just around the corner, I wanted to finally have it in my collection. After a few very nice emails with OJ, I was able to order a 120ml spray bottle. A dream came true. Although it was once again a blind purchase.

In my research, I also noticed that OJ now offers the entire Signature Collection with 40% and 50% perfume concentration. Additionally, some fragrances from "The Four Corners of the World" are now available as Intensivo and also as Extrême. (This could possibly correspond to an approach to the 40 and 50% concentrations for the regular bestsellers.)

Now to the scent.

Right after spraying, it becomes clear: Everything is right. Everything is good. A deep calm flows balsamically through the scent of the Hemlock spruce and surrounds me. Light citrus splinters from the accords of the top note break the theme into more transparency. They give everything a feeling of floating. Responsible for this, in my view, are the bergamot and juniper berries. Already here it becomes clear, this scent does not have a pyramid. Rather, there are sounds in a theme that flash up repeatedly. The basic mood forms a deep, beautifully lush green that experiences levitation despite its density. The wood accords, primarily from the oud, remind me a bit of Oud 777 by Stephane Humbert Lucas, who also managed to weave a non-medical, non-barnyard impression into his composition. So, aromatic, balsamic oud comes as a wood accord to the spruce. Slowly, impressions of forests become clearer. However, these are forests in spirit. The essence that remains in the head as an olfactory best-of. The oud also supports with a light smoky note. This is not incense-like, but clear, balsamic, and slightly woody. As if light wood had been gently smoked. This accord weaves itself so skillfully into the warm green that it only flashes here and there, drawing me in even more. Vetiver and cedar support, in my perception, the respective sister accords of Hemlock and oud and give them a stage, as well as "backing" over time.

Ormonde Jayne Man (Parfum) is deep olive green in its bottle. For me - as a scent, as well as a bottle - it is the epitome of style and independence. This fragrance is worn for oneself. I am currently wearing it to polo in the office, and it makes me smile. It creates a good projection and is so skillfully subtle that it does not strain or need volume. Oh yes, it stands out. Positively. In the elevator. To the seat neighbor. It makes one calm and at the same time very, very satisfied. It creates moments of tranquility. It is the filter against the fast-paced and hectic life. When the Hemlock spruce gently moves in the wind of our time and tells its story.

PS: The 50ml and 120ml spray bottles are those of the EDP versions. The service (of filling with up to 50% perfume concentration) is only offered via contact by email or in the boutique on Bond Street. So please do not be surprised that essentially the bottle for this fragrance is the same as for the EDP.
