Prickly Figs

As some may know, I am always crazy about fig scents, as I not only like the fruit itself but also the scent of it, which, as often happens, smells more intense in perfumes than in reality. But anyway, here comes another fig scent, more specifically a prickly pear scent, the kind that grows between prickly cacti (oh come on, admit it, you’ve all been pricked by cacti at some point... and then only cursed afterward!...).
But even they, these figs, smell great, although they are a bit weak. However, the scent comes in a rather nice bottle.

The scent:
Despite the unisex designation, I feel that the scent starts off quite feminine. Just before you perceive the fig, the fragrance smells more green-floral with a hint of sweet notes. But then you notice the prickly pear. What is the difference from a regular fig? I’m not exactly sure, but here it smells a bit more robust and not as green-fruity as one usually knows. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad; the prickly pear smells simply excellent, just a bit weak, but that’s how the whole scent is. Orange blossoms seem to be completely absent, but a little cedarwood comes in later and forms a good foundation that harmonizes well with the fig scent and probably makes it a bit longer-lasting, which is definitely necessary since the scent has no great longevity without the wood.
Moreover, you can still smell the neroli in the base at some point; it’s in the background and is almost overshadowed by the wood, which seems to get stronger by the minute.

Longevity and sillage:
The longevity is average, lasting about four to six hours on the skin.
As for the sillage: right when you spray it, you immediately think, “Okay, this isn’t going to work!”
And unfortunately, that’s true. From the very beginning, the scent is very close to the body and can only be perceived for a short time. After that, you have to practically throw yourself at the wearer to be able to notice it (the scent).

The bottle:
The bottle is rectangular and transparent. On the front, the logo (tree and animals) of Ortigia is prominently displayed, which already looks exotic due to its motif. The cap is black and trapezoidal. All in all, a very beautiful bottle.
However, the image in the photo here shows the shower gel!

Fico d’India (why India, by the way? The prickly pears were inspired by those from Sicily…) is a lovely fig scent with a woody base that comes across as light and casual but very fragrant.

It is thus perfectly created for warm days in spring and summer, but if you want to use it, it should be decanted into a travel spray to be able to reapply it regularly. It lasts for a short while, but after two hours, you mostly just smell “something woody,” so a refresh would be beneficial.

Even though I initially wrote that the scent starts off feminine, it does become unisex later, perhaps due to the woody notes. In any case, it is wonderful, so it should be tested. Maybe you’ll like it so much that you curse a little less when you find your fingers once again among the thorns of a cactus…

I got a whiff of it today, and it’s actually so weak that it’s not worth it. But it’s pretty and pleasant to smell (if you’re quick).

You described it exactly how I feel about it, but funny enough, at the end, it smelled like freshly grated ginger to me and just as spicy. I'll have to test it again sometime, for the ginger or not ginger reason: Trophy+
